Very thoughtful comments. Who wouldn't be swayed by "Fuck these vile murdering zionist bastards from hell. They are a cancerous plague on our whole world".

We certainly wouldn't want to offend the people who shoot unarmed civilians in front of their children for not being part of their master race. Maybe we should start off our love note by thanking them for not murdering the children as well?

Well there goes the notion that what happens in the West Bank stays in the West Bank.

As with so many other locales where dealing with constant debilitating strife is, as they say, a way of life, the boundaries of morality gets pushed to a point where it no longer exists, to where even projecting a mirage over it is deemed a waste of time and effort.

This is when and where atrocities occur that from the inside become "just another thing that happened that day".

I've personally seen this happen in another place and time where the instinct for survival takes over from the urge to be just another fellow human being looking for happiness in life.

This is where having a higher purpose in life (for better or worse) whether it be for God, family, Country and/or one's self-interests really kicks in hard and makes folks become something other than being "normal".

Glad to see Israel’s conservative parties learning from our conservatives is that in a democracy the best way to win isn’t by appealing to the voters it’s about suppressing those who would vote against you.

Out of curiosity, who's the "master race" in this narrative?

This is your response to a father and a would-be good samaritan, unarmed civilians both, being gunned down before the father's daughters eyes.

You are blinded by either ignorance or bigotry.

Or both.

Dear friend, I don't take those words as thoughtful comments nor do they in any way sway me. I'm not impelled by them in the slightest to arm up and rush from my house to the local temple to take out thos zionist bastards from hell. And I am not overly wrought up that somebody else will, but I can understand why for a conservative brain that might be a concern. Rage and I are old enough friends that we often dance together. You may not enjoy such a close relationship with your own and keep it under tighter wraps.

Anyway, instead of all that what I hear in such irrational and hateful outbursts is immense emotional pain. I hear suffering and anguish at unrequited injustice the world suffers from. I hear pain and the wrath of God long suffering provokes. I pity the person driven to such extremes. There is no peace for me in a world that causes suffering like that either. If you can't take your own pain on the cross and forgive the mechanical horror caused by programmed robots yourself, try to understand that it's not any easier for others.

To live in a world where children are shot down in front of their children is very hard to take. I think we might want to not jump over acknowledging that before we get to worrying about other things.

I fear it might be too easy to habituate to the fact that liberals have their own if different sense of justice and injustice.

Ideally it would be nice if we could fix stuff without a revolution. As a person perhaps more revolution sympathetic than your are, I can none the less appreciate your concern. I hope you can see some of mine.

You need to point out your sarcasm. That quote was a comment to the Twitter post.

Well that's disgusting. Shame that Israel seems on a descent towards right wing madness.

How long before the right wingers here cite the backlash over the Israeli's behavior as reason to add "United States of America, and Israel" to the Pledge of Allegiance (and try to make it mandatory for everyone to say, and also have to sign an official pledge of such). And yes, too many Democrats have been supporting that bullshit as well, but as is the norm these days whatever awful behavior there is, the Republicans are gonna make sure they're at the forefront of pushing it.

Meanwhile, in the same paper:
https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news...ll-sites-boasts-of-lowering-turnout-1.7108972

Netanyahu's party placed 1,200 hidden cameras in Arab polling stations on Election Day ■ 'We managed to lower the voter turnout to under 50 percent, the lowest in recent years!' firm boasts on Facebook.

I was going to make a thread about Bibi getting re-elected as it gives a blueprint for what to expect next year (just like it did in 15/16 before). Bibi has gone HARD right. Yes, even more than he already was. And it saved his ass and got him re-elected.

Want an idea of how far right he's going? He labeled a competitor, that brags about how many Palestinians he's killed in conflicts, as a "liberal leftist". People that know the situation made the analogy it would be like an American President openly embracing the KKK (er, to clarify, Bibi secured his position by joining with hard right groups for his coalition government). Oh and he did this while being investigated (which he calls a "witch hunt" by leftists). Granted, I believe the AG of Israel is saying "yep Bibi's been bad and needs to face the courts over it" which is a marked shift from where we're currently at in the US.

People, especially white people, you need to get out and vote Turmp and Republicans out, because they're gonna go to crazy lengths to keep minority persons from voting. And we need to work to get our friends and family that don't vote for whatever bullshit reasons to get off their asses and vote too. Because if we don't, we might be looking at something even more unfathomable than the first Turmp term.

Since 2005 Israel has killed 24 Palestinians for every 1 Israeli a Palestinian has killed. Of those killed by Israel, 79% have been civilian. If you think this incident is an outlier, you're mistaken. It's an intentional act by a violent regime.
