Your hatred of Bush blinds you. If Bush was never president, how would the world have been a better place? The terrorist would still hate us. Iraq would still be a killing field. Sadam's sons would still be raping women. Iran would still be building a nuclear weapon...

The only difference would be that the terrorist (the ones who cut off the heads of innocent civilians) would still think the USA are pussiess which, after invading and killing many terrorist, they don't anymore.

People don't know how well they had it until they see the worse side of things. If the democrats ruin the economy by raising taxes... or if another terrorist attack happens... ooh well, people don't know what they have until they lose it...

Have you taken a look at NYC skyline lately and noticed anything missing? That's what Clinton failed to do while he was busy fixing his fly.

You can always count on a conservative hack to blame it all on Clinton, even (check that, especially) when it happens when Republicans are in power.

Spanked in the election, and all they can come back with is "clinton's fault".

Yeah, damn those liberals and their elections! They've got some hell of a nerve sweeping out the will of half the country. Everyone knows that Bush MAN-DATE was supposed to last 4 years (at least), not 2!

Have you taken a look at reality, lately and noticed anything missing? I guess you didn't get the memo when the Republicans were yelling "Wag the dog," claiming Clinton was trying to distract the nation's attention from Monica when he ordered attacs on Al Qaeda bases in Afghanistan and Sudan long before 9/11.
Clinton came under intense criticism in 1998 by the GOP after he launched an attack on suspected terrorist targets in Afghanistan and Sudan. Intelligence indicated bin Laden and his top associates were meeting at a training camp when U.S. missiles were fired at it, just weeks after al Qaeda terrorists bombed U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya.

The attack was launched on the same day Lewinsky, a former White House intern, wrapped up her testimony before a grand jury investigating whether Clinton lied under oath about their relationship or encouraged anyone else to do so.
Your reality check just bounced.

That makes NO sense. Don't you mean, it just cashed in?
No, I meant there's no reality behind his lame assertion that 9-11 was Clinton's fault.

As a financially conservative independent voter I do think it will be good and bad for the Bush administration and the Republicans. It could also be good or bad for the nation.

Good for the Bush administration because they can and will blame Iraq being a failure on a democratic congress. They desperately need a scapegoat there. After my tour I am convinced nothing will fix the problem in Iraq regardless of party. The situation is already beyond repair and getting worse by the day so it?s better not to be in power when it collapses. Voters have a short term memory and will blame the Dems for an Iraq that will be in civil war by the time 2008 rolls around. Bad for Bush/Republicans because of the obvious problems of not having people toe the party line and pass legislation through without problems. Bad because his style of politics doesn?t work/sit well with the Dems.

Good or bad for the nation depending on how willing the two parties are to work together. They all give lip service on working together but the country is so divided now nothing may get done. Look at the horrible national campaign ads and all the petty posts in here. I hope the Dems don?t spend all their time trying to investigate/call for resignations/impeach Republicans and forget to pass good legislation. I hope the Dems are able to cut the deficient but not rape us in the process. I hope the Whitehouse becomes more flexible on issues. I also hope the Dems don?t let the victory go to their heads and become as arrogant as the last congress. If the Dems now try and ban the filibuster like Frist did they should be kicked out of office.

I think it is a good direction for the nation if the politicians properly embrace it. As mentioned in the post above it often works well for the country to have the congress controlled by a different party than the president.

He went to war with cherry-picked pieces of intel that supported his already made up mind while conveniently discarding any intel that didn't support it. The same cherry picked intel is what was shown to congressional leaders when the "voted for the war" as the apologists like to call it in their revisionist history.

And what the ****** was Bush doing the 8 months prior to 9/11 ? Was he reading up on Clinton's report about the threat posed by Bin Laden ? Was he beefing up airport security, breaking the walls of governmental in-fighting within the FBI, CIA, NSA, was he taking the previous threats and prior attacks as a serious matter to deal with etc.. ? Have you taken a look at the NYC skyline lately and noticed anything missing ? That's what Bush failed to do 8 months into office while he was busy trying to start a fight with China.

Drift3r, I don't think that you're giving Bush any credit for his achievements during those first 8 months of his term...

He took long vacations, played some golf, picked up some brush on his ranch, rode a bike and read a book to some kids....

I think that should count for something....

The best way Congress could make him a better President is to impeach and convict him and make him an EX-President.

Do you really want Dick to run the country for a year+?

He'd be next in line for the impeachment...
