So I ordered my new parts yesterday and got an e-mail that said my shipping address wasn't the same as the billing address. Regardless of how stupid this is anyway, I called my bank and had them add it, same phone # as the billing addy as it's my cell. Call the vendor back and tell them the addy is set up, they say ok and they will call.

Get another e-mail 3 hours later that says they can't confirm. Called them and the girl tells me this "well the bank only had your 2nd shipping address and phone # listed"................WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?! The style of my house? A list of likely cars parked out front? My cell phone serial number?

This infuriated me, I hung up, cooled off and called a few minutes later and got the guy I think I talked to the first time. He tells me that he got the 2nd addy when he called and will push the order through. I am still very skeptical.

Anyway, if I'd stolen a card, I'd just go to CompUSA or Best Buy and get stuff as they never ID my credit cards and I'm sure they don't ID at all very often.

Oh, sorry. I have no idea why I didn't mention it.

ChiefValue...went with them over NewEgg (basically the same thing, I know) because of free shipping. But this is turning out to be more of a pain than $15 in shipping is worth.

Seems normal. They were practicing due-diligence and being cautious. Next time just ask them what they would like you to do.

On a side note, ZipZoomFly offers free 2 day shipping on most of their items.

And newegg will leave a 2500 computer on your door step without caring. But sometimes expedience is more important then cautiousness.

And if someone's stuff ends up where it's not supposed to, or someone gets your info and ships to an alternate address, and you get screwed, everyone else pays for the theft. It may be an inconvenience, but I rather have them be more careful than less. It sucks no doubt, but that is the world we live in.

No, I'm well aware. That's not the issue. The issue is that the info was THERE, Fifth Third added it to my account (I heard him typing as I talked so it's not like he wrote it down and forgot)...CV CSR's called and got the info but somehow my address, linked to my phone # that I was CALLING CV from wasn't good enough? The 5/3rd rep made me give my mother's maiden name and like 3 other things that only I would really know.

The good thing is, once the alternate address is correctly on record future hassles shouldn't arise. Sometimes the bank lists it as a "bidness address". In the future you may be able to simply enter it as both the billing and shipping, thus not requiring manual verification by some mongers when the billing differs from the shipping. If you do enter diff'rent ones (some always ask for primary address where statement is delivered) and there is a comment box, then always note: "shipping address on record with bank" and the telephone number.
