I disagree, setting a limiter for 50MPH could make his son a safety hazard on the freeway, that dad must have some serious issues.

Maybe the point is to keep his kid off the freeway. The kid can take it off when he's the one liable when someone dies from his inexperience.

Like perhaps a limit of zero?

Can we apply that to freedomsbeat and triforce YAGT's as well?

He says he can't even go on the freeway because of it. So he's not a safety hazard on the freeway, he's smart enough to stay off the freeway.

I think the kid is trying to make a point to have them help him remove the speed limiter which IMO is ridiculous and stupid. If my dad were to ever have done that to me, I would have made a point to drive on the free way, even at a dangerously low speed like that to make a point.

Stupid? yes. Whats dumber? Putting governor on your kid's car. Either give your kid the driving privilege or don't give it to him at all....

Proving the point you aren't mature enough to make the proper decisions in a car.

I was going to post my own reply, but this just says it so well. QFT.

You seem to have this weird notion that teenagers are smarter than their parents.

The kid is liable. He bought the damn car, and he's the one with the legally-aquired licence.

Given the choice, any kid would take a car limited to 50 instead of walking.
and how old are you?

In the event something happened they would not be able to go after a minor but could get the parents. The parents would end up paying for the stupidity of their child. He is also under the age to enter into a contract so I doubt it's just "his" car (maybe his money but not his car yet). Who pays the insurance? Where is the car parked?

It dangerous and shortsighted, there are certain times when you need to slam on the gas to avoid a collision, if your car died at 50mph, you may risk getting hit.
