This is really starting to annoy me

My wife signed up and installed msn messenger last week. I don't use it and don't really want the program running and adding another icon to the tray. Anyhow I took it out of the startup using startup.cpl. I have startup monitor installed and every time I start outlook express it starts up the msn messenger and tries to add it to the startup again.

How do I get rid of this on my account? I am using win 2000 and I don't want to uninstall I just don't want it on my account.

Thanks.

Just delete the Messenger folder in Program Files. That's what I always do to get rid of that integrated crap.

Although, if you get an error message saying a files in use, close the Messenger icon and just delete the program file rather than the whole folder.

There is a checkbox in OE6; Tools - Options - General - Automatically Log onto MSN Messenger Service, maybe you have this checked.

Thanks for the replies.

Hubris Will that make the program inoperable in my wifes account?

morkinva Thanks but I am still using ie 5.01 and I don't have that option. Maybe it is time for an upgrade. ;)
