Just installed my OS - tried to hook up to my network (cable) and no go.
Looks like my computer cannot detect any network hardware. I have to connect
to the internet to get new drives off various web sites.

I'm just using the onboard network stuff on my ASUS A8N-E motherboard. The cable is plugged into the back of the mahine, and I'm getting the yellow/green light.

Anyone else experience this?

In General you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer?s Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet
If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions for Windows Network Installation - http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html

Just a though. If you JUST installed your OS, did you make sure to install all motherboard drivers? I know network cards usually won't work right after an install until both the motherboard and network drivers are installed.

CHECK THIS!

Check in your device manager and see if there's a yellow question mark under 'Network Adapters'. My 1st guess would be that you haven't installed the LAN drivers yet.

Let us know, and good luck!
