This is rather disturbing...

I'm really glad that countries like Saudi Arabia are finally beginning to take these stories into public domain. I really hope some reform comes of this.

This quote makes the story really touching for me:
Her story has been widely reported in the Saudi media. A Saudi princess stepped forward to pay al-Baz's medical bills. Representatives of the new Saudi National Human Rights Association visited her in the hospital.

Al-Baz told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Sunday that once she is back at work, she will press a violence-against-women awareness campaign.

In that sh*thole of a country things like that are more prevalent, but on the plus side her hubby will probably get beheaded or something for it.

Bashatah pointed out that Saudi women need to be accompanied by a male guardian even if they want to go to the police to report abuse.

Saudi law requires a woman to be accompanied by a male guardian -- her husband, or, for unmarried women, her father, brother or son -- on almost any public chore. Saudi women also are not allowed to drive.

Hopefully Wayne Bobbit style!

Does anyone else think that Arabic society is kind of like Bizarro world? They hate everything we value in our society, and vice-versa. Everything is opposite. How can a person justify beating another like that, especially a woman???

Their society sucks more than ours because the people have few freedoms. Maybe that's something we cherish and they don't, but you don't see many people from the western world immigrating to public-beheading middle east do you?

True, but public beheading would probably do wonders for this country's prision system.

Not bedhead! I'm already embarrased enough when I wake up with that and try to get rid of it, let alone receiving it in public somehow!

Saudi Arabia does not represent Arab society (I sure hope not). Countries such as Jordan for example the queen walks around wearing western clothing and has appeared on several western t.v shows. She's pretty hot, but I forgot her name. Women have freedom there. The only countries that impose strict laws on women are Iran (which is not an Arab country and only has a law of wearing a scarf) and Saudi Arabia. Afghanistan used to be there third. If there are more do share as I can't remember off the top of my head.

Saudia Arabia is not a bad place to live if you are a GUY. They have made billions from oil that stepping foot into their country will show you that they are an oil rich kingdom. Signs are everywhere (buildings, roads, cars, etc.). The streets are filled with Mercedes, BMW, ETC unlike the U.S where every other car is a Ford. They will never change their way of life as most of them are controlling and believe in the man is greater than woman idea. Funny how the kings and princes have dancers and a different woman for every day of the week yet they still impose these laws on their country. Not to mention this is the only country in the middle east that not only makes women cover, but majority of them wear a veil (shows only their eyes).

I never understood that. The Quran says "women should dress modestly". It makes no mention of the type of clothing women should wear. You can take that however you like and I guess they took modestly as covering your entire body. I have no beef with the women who wear a scarf because their religion says so because that is only covering your hair so be it, but your entire body is just retarded. I don't understand the car law and that just shows a male dominate society. What is their reason for the car law? So their women won't runaway after the husband beats them?

Depends on if there were witnesses. I don't know how it is for spousal abuse, but in the Shariah, Islamic law, a woman needs 4 male witnesses to prove rape.

I wish he was strung up upside down by his boys and then lashed and beaten about the face by Rosie O'Donnel....naked...with his eyelids removed.

Lol, now we're getting there. Much better than a simple beheading 😛
