Anyway on great A8R-MPV mobo anand just reviewed Inq got two X1300s running without a master card!!

More importantly.. will other Ati cards work? How exciting would it be to run two $150 GTO^2 unlocked to XTPE's x-fire on a cheap $105 board!?!?

I'm tempted to jump on both board and another GTO for fastest $300 video setup in existance..but they say update is coming.

Like you said, only exciting if they can get all the cards working.

I don't see that happening with the X800 series though.

Then again... If this information is true, it begs the question, "Why master cards in the first place?"

Answer: ATI is trying to rape everyone of their money.

I can't wait until someone makes a thread about this being ATI's "viral marketing scheme".

This of course is only if the Inq. isnt blowing smoke up our @sses.

Only the lower end card does not require a master card.
It's like the lower end Nvidia cards that do not use SLI bridge for SLI because there is enough bandwidth to go around on the PCI-Express bus.
