grammar is the least of this paper's problem. it doesn't have to be revised; it has to be redone. my 2 year old nephew could write something more intelligent than that.

You could have approached it with far less hubris. Why would you treat anyone, friend or not, so callously? You have to understand that not everyone is endowed with literary ability, prestigious school or not. Even if the paper were grammatically correct, not everyone can present a cohesive thought on paper.

So, next time try expressing a little more tact and helping the person without insulting them.

my friends who graduated from engineering can't write for beans. i cant laugh at them for their lack of literary ability because i cant compare when it comes to math. different people have different skill sets.

Yeah I guess a bit.
But to be fair, he did spend like an hour fixing the paper.. or should I say, polishing the turd.

Weird. I'm confident anyone that was in my 10th grade English class could write stuff way better than that. Do people's writing skills actually degrade when they get to college or something? It just sounds as if every line were in its own paper with complete disregard to redundancy. I'm not the best at writing...but I try to make something...coherent and concise...I guess. There's no excuse for not using spell check. It's amazing to me how the ideas are so clear but so poorly conveyed. How can one think that well and write so poorly?

And yes, I'm speaking of 10th grade in public HS. Probably even 9th grade. You see how other kids write when you have to do "evaluate" the papers among yourselves.

It is difficult for most students who go straight from high school into universities, because most think college is for parties, though parties do have their place, just like high school was.

What?

Anyway, there are tons of run-on sentences and tense errors still present, and the use of needless articles is rampant.

Reading that made me want to cry. I'm a Junior in AP English and I write with more fluidity than that...

I think half the problem is that I can't re-proofread the damned corrections because all the annoying red lines get in the way (yes, yes, I know I could hide them) and I have an attention span of approximately 15 seconds for things that suck.

I have until Tuesday to finish this, 'cuz she's on vacation. (Yes. She took a vacation two weeks into school. <insert something about culture shock here>

I don't agree...

If I ask a friend for something important, I want their skills not them trying to screw around or come on to me. Out on the town, mess with me; it's cool.

I didn't have much of a culture shock in college. I did it my way early. My parents raised me well; they understood their son may partake in things they did not agree with. All they wanted was my reasons why...then they just let me know the consequences and how their home is important to them. I followed the rules, it's respectful.

And with that stunning realization, I believe we're getting at the heart of the problem here. You see, the basis for this paper was a series of short, 2 or 3 line IM discussions on the topic with several people spaced out between "hold on, PVP," "hold on, raid" and "hold on, ventrilo sex" over the course of 3 days and then compiled into a "paper" in the midst of one such headset-assisted masturbation session.

She's a WoW skank, and if that ****** doesn't change, she's got a pretty good chance at flunking directly out of school. She's also spent maybe like 45 minutes away from the computer socializing with real people, and didn't even bother buying any of her textbooks or other materials (unfortunately, I think she picked that one up from me, because I never do until absolutely neccessary so I know if I actually need the books, if I can make due bumming it off a friend for assignments based directly on it, etc.)

Since all the changes were tracked aside from editing out her name, you can view the original very easily.

Pull up the Reviewing toolbar in Word and choose original or original showing markup from the dropdown.

umm go back to the original file "she" sent you.

Your culture shock stuff is confusing. I took vacations while in college too...you just work it out. My GPA wasn't the best due to this but my test scores and recommedations were.

book worms < then those running things.

you clearly have issues. Since you have been writing for 7 years now...what are your published works?

i like wow sometimes now...but in college I just had MUD's...did school early, worked out, mudded...went out and about and depending on my luck determined the rest of the night.

I was on top of my classes...I rarely had to study long.

I think she just doesn't want you IM'ing her. No one that is in a RAID would be seriously on AIM anyway.

When did I say I'd been writing for 7 years? Helping her with her homework for 7 years, yes.

And the rest of your post just seems to be motivated by an "oh noes people can't get dangerously addicted to MMOs" point of view, so I won't even humor it with a reply.

After 7 years, if you have so many problems with her...why keep her around?

People cry addiction when it's something they wouldn't or couldn't do.

Works fine for me in FF. IE might freak out trying to open it with the embedded Word thing, I don't know if it plays nicely with Track Changes. Try saving the link instead of opening it directly.

doesn't work in my FF
tried saving it, got the same problem

anyone know what's up?

that essay made me go crazy after teh 1st 2 lines.

Likewise. I saw all the comments, read the first two lines, scrolled to the bottom, chuckled at the last line, and closed the document.

I read the whole thing though..

I bet you if Americans gave a stronger encouragement of academics like the Japanese and Chinese, students would be actually able to graduate at the age of 16.

I'm going to graduate at 16! :p

Or at least ... just a little bit after my 17th bday ...
