I was searching for a game for the Wii and this was a video I came across.

Why does the opponent keep hitting the ping pong to the guy away from the table?

They're doing it for fun/as a show. The announcer guy says it 5 secs into. These two players are #1 and #2 in China (sometimes they switch spots, usually skinny guy in red is #1).

thought it would be quite clear that they're just doing this for show, not unlike the various trick shot events in all other sports such as basketball, hockey, pool...

of course someone could do this on purpose so as to make sure they beat their opponent straight up by sheer force and breaking them - not with any tricks
