You have to get bloodwork done.

Ah, I wouldnt want to subject her to anything like that. She is already timid enough.

how exactly did you 'rescue' this bird?

My brothers a vetinarians assistant. Some woman came by and dropped the bird off saying it was about to die since it had almost no feathers. My bro gave him to me since I already had another parrot, and I wanted another.

I dont know the original origin of the parrot, although someone probably snatched it from a tree somewhere.

Definatly not snatched from a tree :) wouldn't be living in your house if it was, most likely someone bought it from a pet store and decided they couldn't handle taking care of the bird. Happens A LOT :(

aww, he's (or she's) cute :)

did you teach him/her anything like saying words?

does it bite you ?

It doesnt talk, but it mimmicks whistles and other sounds. It has a bad habit of making a lot of noise when music comes on suddenly, like commercials on tv. She only bites when I try to grab her ass from both sides, or the bottom. She will sit (painfully) on my shoulder or anywhere if I am sleeping, but she hates being grabbed.

She also seems to get high when you scratch her head.

video of getting high requested

Seconded.

If she bonds with you, and makes an egg for you to fertilize, then she's a she. That's the only way you'll know for sure that the bird is both happy, and a girl.

A bird cant lay an egg without being fertilized first, right? I think shes pretty happy, since shes independant, rarely caged (only during really cold days, or when company is over) and is rather laid back.

Yeah it gets disgusting sometimes. Luckily she has a favorite spot where theres newspaper under her. Many times I have left the house with poop on me though. I dont even get embarrassed anymore.

yes she is the cockatoo, and she's a pretty small cockatoo actually. Most are a lot larger.

hahaha, sounds just like a parakeet I once had. He'd sing along to the radio and loved getting his neck scratched.

You got an African Grey? Hot damn, those are the coolest birds ever. I always wanted one.

I once seen a Toucan in a pet store, that was definitely the coolest bird I have ever seen. The only thing I didnt like about it though was that it kept jumping up and down like some sort of lunatic.

I wonder if he ate Fruit Loops.

bird

She is a rescued animal and had almost no feathers when I got her about 6-7 years ago. I have no idea of her age or whatever either, so if anyone can tell let me know.

And how should I prepare her for dinner? :wine: :D

cute. :)

They are all cute until you wake up to a loud meowing noise with poop all over you and holes in your brand new t-shirts. :p
