Yes I know that creating a second account is a no no. But I feel I served plenty of time for what I was banned for. I have been sending emails to the mods for several weeks with no replies so I felt this was my only other option. Here is the link to the thread that got me banned.

I did not realize that this was illegal, as I said in my email, enethical maybe, but I didn't know it was illegal. I mean I was not trying to get the person to buy a used busted set of speakers thinking they were brand new. I did explain what he had to do for them. I also was not trying to make someone else do it. The reason i can not ifs because no one close to me sellls the speakers or i would have done this myslef. Also had that trader emailed me back saying he thought it was bad, then i would have deleted the thread, but he didn't do that. I just think for not knowing it was wrong, not getting any warning, and serving 3+ weeks of time for it, as well as appologizing and promising not to post it again. i feel I deserve to be let back in. I mean I am not a bad trader, and I did not mean to do anything to hurt thr fourms, and I will never post of it again, so i see no reason not to let me back on. Alos anyone that had trades going with me. Please LMK as I have been unable to get my PM's obviously. Thanks for your time.
 
Mike, I don't think you understand. The problem isn't really that you were trying to cheat a trader. It looks to me like you were banned because you explicitly suggested defrauding a company. Telling the other person to return the broken speakers to a retail store to get new ones is the illegal part.

I think you still don't get it because you are still saying you would have "done this yourself" if there was a store close to you. Don't you understand that if you buy a product at Circuit City, break it and return it at Best Buy for a new one, that you are costing Best Buy money? They have to give you brand new merchandise and deal with the manufacturer regarding the broken one. RMAs cost money, BB has to pay employees to handle them and who knows what Altec's policy is as far as shipping and other fees.

You're not going to score any points with the mods from this post.
 
I do understand, I said I would have done it, not I will do it. If you read my email in that thread you will see that I did not think it was wrong, becuase in my mind either way it was just like an RMA, either i did the RMA if I had the reciept or best buy or office depot does the RMA. I didn't see naything really illegal. I do see you point though, that it will cost the company money. So therefor I will not do it myself, nor will i try to pawn them off on someone else. I will never speak of the speakers again. I just don't think I should be banned as long as I was, since I got no warning, I did not realize it was illegal, and i have appologized and said I won't post it again. I don't see what the problem is with letting me back on. Yes I know I will not score points with the mods by doing what I have done here, but they would not answer my emails. I just think 3+ weeks is a little long stating al the conditions I just did. I am using this as my last resort. Either they see this and they say yeah okay lets let him back in, or they say lets ban that account to. If they do the later, then i just find another forum. I would just prefer to stay in this nice anandtech community
 
Mike, I don't think you're a bad guy, and it seems like you genuinely didn't understand the problem. I hope you are allowed back to AT at some point. Also, I understand your frustration with not getting a reply to your e-mail. I think part of the problem is that not all of the mods have access to that e-mail account, so maybe the mod who saw your e-mails was unfamiliar with your "case".

However, it is also very possible that the mod(s) just decided that your ban was indefinite (as they said in your thread) and that they would let you in when they were good and ready. Suggesting fraud definitely pushes the mods' buttons and 3 weeks is not all that long in the grand scheme of things.

So I hope you don't get banned permanently for posting this, but like I said, making a new account to plead your case usually does not turn out well. Good luck.
