He then found a bill in the house, which he lighted from the stove and used to set the house ablaze, according to his statement.
Nice grammar from a newspaper reporter.

This guy was going to go off and kill someone, whether he met them on the internet or not, some people are just wired wrong, sad nonetheless.

A gruesome tale, but the story was poorly written. It tells us that he can't get murder 1, but can he be charged with murder 2? Anyways, I can't see why he gets off on murder 1 anyways. I'm 16, if I kill someone, it's not because I don't have the maturity to tell right from wrong, it's because I'm a blood thirsty maniac who doesn't care that it's wrong. This punk's even older. Anyways, I"m willing to bet that he'll get at least 25-life under a less serious charge than murder 1.

Very violent crimes and sexual offenses should always be, IMO. People with those tendencies are not easily reformed, and I think the right of society as a whole outweighhs personal rights to "experiment" while "young".

hell yeah! :| they're not charging him with 1st degree murder cuz he's under 18.. he's god darn 17.. close enough.. and if my memory serves me correct, have younger kids 14-15?, been charged as an adult doing something like this?

just brutal.. someone needs some jailtime for life. :disgust:

i agree with some of the above posters. if you are doing that f'd up stuff you should be given the maximum punishment of an adult.

Who's the editor of that article? Whoever wrote that article needs to go back to grammar school.

Actually what it does is reinforces the idea that parents need to be aware of what their kids are doing on the web.
This tragedy could have been prevented if this girl hadf been talking to her family enough that she could have told them about her web friend and her family could have been present to supervise their meeting.

According to King's statement, Nonie Drummond invited him to come for a visit because her mother had been away for several weeks and her grandfather was going to be away over the weekend. He got a ride to Fabius.

Parent of the year nominee.

Ugh seems like people don't seem to understand the need for safe meeting places. I've met a few people off the net, hell I met my wife off the net and even I know the common sense rules. Always meet someone in a place where there are other people around, and make sure at least one person knows everything about the person you are meeting.
Also this guy was fvcked up in the head. A normal person doesn't do that sh!t.
I met a woman and found out she had lied to me and whatnot. All I did was go home and tell her I never wanted to talk to her again.
When I met my wife we met in a public area and her sister knew everything there was to know about me.

I don't care about how they met. The internet or mutual friend. It makes no difference. This nutjob would have done it to someone eventually. He needs to be locked away for good. If he can't handle a few lies, he has serious issues.
