I thought it something going on, turns out to be a #nothingburger

the good news is that someone fromAZ would be far removed from this policy, if it was even a thing

The moment Trump politicized the pandemic as being hurtful to him and his administration, well that was the clarion call for his supporters to see the Covid pandemic as an enemy of Trump and anyone who would beg to differ from his view that the epidemic was no big deal, that it would simply go away on its own, that masking up was being disloyal to Trump, etc. etc.

So double taxing on the unvaccinated is to me not properly and specifically directed at the man and those folks who, in their support of Trump and his ludicrously deadly treatment of the pandemic, stood in the way of having our leaders effectively mitigate the untold thousands of deaths and injuries that could have been avoided.

They'll never be held personally accountable and thus penalized for any of those deaths and maiming that were attributable to his and their intransigence against having a nationally unified campaign that could minimize the effects of the epidemic but I think its worth noting that he and they are in fact partly responsible for our health professionals in and out of gov't service not being able to properly fight the spread of the Covid while also lengthening the time that the epidemic has been killing our citizens and should be recorded in the annals of our nation's history as such.

But is this about "brownie points with the most extreme elements of their base" or rather about sending a message to vaccine-refuseniks that many people are not happy about their choices? I mean, I think it's a silly proposal, but isn't social pressure one tool for persuading people? And even the suggestion of such a bill could cause some people to rethink their reluctance to be vaccinated.
I think most of the people who are still "reluctant" are only going to feel more emboldened in their decision by this "Nazi regime tactic" as they'd likely describe it.

Many folks simply didn't trust the vaccines, were swayed by conspiracy theories or just didn't want to take the time to get one.

The concern for your fellowman and woman is disappearing fast and has been for a while.

But HealthCare still remains a personal choice.

I love Meghan54's argument for getting one. I traveled out of state to obtain one. I'm an old fart.

While the item appears to be a proposal not a bill.
Personally I’d be fine with a tax break for being vaccinated and maybe a small fee for being unvaccinated

Its a dumb bill and I generally disagree with the logic of "well its a dead bill or a non-starter anyway so what does it matter"

Legislators should be taken to task for introducing stupid legislation that isn't going to go anywhere for brownie points with the most extreme elements of their base.
This kind of stuff happens all the time. So often in fact that it is rarely reported on. In my state legislature there was a bill being considered to appropriate a trivially small amount of funds to pay for improved signage in some state parks. Completely reasonable thing to spend money on.

When the bill went to committee, one of the asshole Republicans proposed an amendment to the bill that would allow commercial logging in those state parks where the signage improvements would be made. The amendment proposed using the commercial logging lease revenue to pay for the new signage. The Republican rep testified bloviated in front of the committee about how much of a waste it was to spend taxpayer dollars on park signage and the only way he would support it was if it was revenue neutral and that's how his constituents felt as well bla bla bla.

Fortunately the committee was majority Democrat and the amendment was voted down immediately. But we have crap like this going on left and right while our country and its people suffer. It blows my mind.

What they should really do is double the taxes of anyone who dares speak out against the government in regards to vaccination. Conservatives would have no problem with it then.
