This is just rediculous.

I'm watching fox, and they have cops arresting people that are paying for prostitution. Beside the fact that this law is downright rediculous, it is also unconstitutional. What two people do with with their money and their body is their business. Regardless of the values that these people have, they have the right to engage in what they please. Same thing applies to gambling. The only time a person's rights can be limited is if that person violates another's rights. Prostitution is mutual agreement, a business transaction. You're paying for a service. Same as gambling. Same as getting a taxi cab. I just can't fathom tax dollars going to police other people's sexual habits. Lunacy.

Why do they always arrest the people paying for the prostitutes and not the prostitutes themselves?

They arrest both.. it's just in this case they used entrapment by making a police officer pose as a prostitute.

Because prostitutes are really undercover cops?

Yeah, but they never have undercover Johns. They seem to want to target the men instead of the STD infested whores.

I hate how the people in charge of the average person are often a lot stupider than the average person.

I remember watching Cops once and some guy goes up to a police officer posing as a prostitute. The guy was being a little paranoid (had a right to be) and asked the 'prostitute' if she was a cop. Then, she said, 'No, baby.'

So, he's like, how much? She said, "20 dollars." He's like, "That's a little low.. I think you're a cop." And, he just started walking away.

He got about 15 yards when 2 cops ran up, tackled him, cuffed him, and put him under arrest.

That damn Cops episode just leaves me damn confused.. Is it illegal to consider hiring a prostitute? I wish there was a way to find out what happened.. cause' it seemed totally random that the cops ran up and arrested him after walking away.

I guess it's all about supply and demand.

Ditto. Based on that logic everything should be legal as long as in done with 2 adults with "mutual agreement". Incest, organ selling, body mutilations, drug trafficking, etc

We had a local suburb in metro Detroit that was using prostitutes, that they had picked up earlier for an offense, talked into propositioning johns in their presence. When the prostitute motioned, the cops came in and arrested the johns just on the say so of these prostitutes. No wires, no cameras. The john's cars were impounded and johns had to pay around $1000 to get their cars back and once they appeared in court were given a $1500 fine. The local judges were in bed with this scheme.

Now, none of this would have stood up if taken up on appeal, but here you are being offered the option of not having to tell your wife what happened to the car or having a very public court fight, most paid up.

Welcome to the USA, where sexual morality is legislated, and anyone who does not have "good Christian values" is a criminal. Prostitution is a victimless crime and should be legal.

it depends on the state's regulations on prostitution, but i was pretty sure that they had to go all the way, get to the room and even start undressing before they can legally make a bust. Cuz up till then the guy could just be curious or something.
Again i think it depends on the state, but it seemed like that cop didnt have enough precedent to take the guy in. maybe he'll get away with a half decent lawyer.

...and by your logic, alcohol would be illegal too. The difference between prostitution and drugs is that if you use the drugs, while intoxicated you could be a social hazard i.e. driving, operating machinery, generally endangering others. I've never heard of someone who visited a prositute and proceeded to harm or kill someone as a direct result of paying for sex. Let me know if you have any information on any instances of that.

We all know prostitution is illegal due to the government forcing morality on it's citizens. That's it plain and simple. Why don't they just make any sex outside of marriage illegal? Afterall, isn't also the government's business what two consenting people do by themselves? <--sarcasm meter high

I'm sure there are numerous instances where people have gotten STD's and then spread them to their spouse. By the way, what's the social hazard of selling organs? Incest?

isn't entrapment illegal?

Why bother WASTING MONEY fighting drugs and prostitution when it could be spent, say, on SCHOOLS THAT DON'T SUCK?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

This is why I asked why doesn't the government ban all sex out of wedlock. It's also safe to say that there is far more promiscuous sex happening then prostitution, therefore, the spread of STD's can be more attributed to promiscuous sex. Hmmm, that's a big danger to society, better make that illegal too.

By the way, what's the social hazard of selling organs? Incest?

I only referred to drugs.
