LOL. It's not amazing, just simple leverage I think. You notice they all are trying to lift her with their hands around her waist. You'll also notice that the lady has her hands on their arms, so she's using their weight to help keep herself grounded.

If they were to simply wrap their arms around her legs and lift (or keep her from putting her hands on their arms) they would be able to lift her easily.

hmm good catch

haha ya, i noticed it after he mentioned it. interesting

The original Houdini not Harry use to do a trick where no one could lift his 8 year old son off the stage. It was learned he boy had a metal belt and a giant magnet was below the stage.

Thinking about this it may be that she is standing slightly off centre to the person picking her up.
If the spine is not straight the body will limit the amount of force it can exert to protect the spine.
Try it by standing with one leg on a surface 1cm higher than the other and seeing how much you can lift in front of you!

To that magnet folks:

I thought the same thing as you. Look at the last picture (I think it's the last) where she's standing on a tarmac. You can't have a magnet below the concrete. I also don't know what to believe about the muscle hypothesis. If you look at some of the guys, she couldn't squeeze hard enough so that they wouldn't have full control of their muscles without them noticing -- hell, on some of those guys, she couldn't squeeze hard enough in general because they're (the muscles) so big. Plus, maybe I'm being naive but I think that she's just resting her hands on the inside of the arms as it's the most logical place for her to put them.

Criss Angel did this too and, oddly, his hands were positioned exactly where hers are on people's arms. Not shens, just physics.

I think you are right, but I can't figure out why ?

Is the placement of her arms making the lifter try to lift their own body ? Or is limiting their lifting power to just their forearms ?

QFT...

In fact a lot of the tricks in martial arts work with the same principle. To center the core muscles and use leverage to manipulate the movement of others.

You can make yourself more difficult to lift, but not impossible.

I'll believe it when she lets me try it myself. ;)

I'm pretty sure it's just leverage. No matter how strong you are, you need to have something near your center of gravity to lift it. If, by bracing against their elbow she can keep herself further away from their center of gravity there's no way she can be lifted. It could literally be a matter of inches.
