This is how you negotiate with a kidnapper

Anyone remember that thread from a couple days ago where they found the head of a body but since the processing was messed up they couldn't use it as evidence? I'm not saying we need to get this tough, but it seems like we're getting entangled in so many regulations that we're becoming somewhat ineffective in dealing with crime...

I too wish that that's how we handled people who took hostages at schools or anything like that. Once you threaten the lives of kids and such, you have forfeited your own life and the sooner someone can act on that the better.

I do love the captions though...

Head negotiator dispatched.
Negotiations begin.
Negotiations concluded.

Priceless.

There must always be some sort of restraint. In this case, it was pretty cut-and-dry, and there were plenty of witnesses. If this kind of justice is allowed to be exercised freely, murder of innocents could be done under the pretense of swift justice. Imagine a lone police officer searching someone's car at a traffic stop and simply shooting the person. "He was threatening me with deadly force." Was that the case? Maybe the suspect sneezed and that pissed off the officer. Who's to say otherwise with no witnesses?

Due process exists for a reason. It's when it gets too complicated when it becomes a problem. Justice should be swift, but it must remain just.

Did you read that whole page? They had negotiated for over 2 hours and thought that he was on the verge of hurting the children. They didn't just shoot him for no reason. He deserved what he got and the world is a better place for it.

I thought thats how it did work. Its just most guys that take hostages aren't stupid enough to hang out a window where they can be easily shot.

I just don't get why so many macho-macho men say that we need the "swift justice" of Communist China here. Has our "slow justice" actually had an affect on anyone's lives here? When we negotiate here, we do it not to save the life of the ass who's responsible, we do it often to save the lives of the hostages. Look at the Russian school siege - the police busted in with a tear gas and gun fire that set off explosions and added to a calamity that resulted in dozens of deaths. INNOCENT DEATHS.

There are situations in which a sniper has taken out a kidnapper. It's not as bad as the ranting on that site implies. That kidnapper is an idiot for just hanging out the window.

I think I saw a video similar to this, but the crook was holding a woman hostage in the middle of the street - he demanded a news crew, but the police told him they'd send a reporter with a camera. The 'reporter' was a cop and when he got close enough he shot the guy.

Actually, I think I'm mixing two different videos. But they're neat anyway.

Swift justice and OJ would be dead right now. But I suppose you are the type to say he's innocent.

You're trying to say we shouldn't have trials anymore? I'm sure you're willing to trade OJ's death for my ability to kill you any time I think you've done something wrong.

The head negotiator wasnt the one who shot him if you look at what the shooter was wearing. Kinda ruins the timeline of the pictures.

Also, seems pretty risky to let the guy fall out the window. He could have tied one of the kids to him or something.

And that theater in moscow?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_theater_hostage_crisis

But hey, I doubt Russia will have to deal with any more hostage crises in the near future, am I right? Who in the hell would decide to take hostages in Russia right now when you almost certainly will face death upon doing so and not meet your initial goal whatever that may be.

Justice wasn't letting the circus go on that happened during the whole OJ trial. That was a disgrace and anybody that says that was how a trial was supposed to be played out, has their head up their ass.

Are you kidding me? Wealth and fame reigns supreme ANYWHERE, not just here. In fact, Corruption is so bad in places like India and China that cops ASK for bribes, blatantly.

"Swift justice" is some bullsh1t small-penised pseudo masculine closet cases need to thrump, pretending that such obvious miscarriages of justice (as the O.J. Simpson debacle) actually made one lick of difference in their lives.
