This is harder than breaking up with the girl

Telling her she won't get the job she wants.

I'd like for her to at least get an interview, but it looks grim from where I'm sitting. I am looking at her resume that consists of one year of on-field promotions with a minor league baseball team and two months as the marketing coordinator for an othopedic center (she was let go of that job just last month).

I've been able to fluff resumes and write articulate cover letters for myself and others that got jobs. But I don't think I can help at all on this. She wants to write the cover letter her own way (she wants it to be more conversational and folksie) and yet she wants to me to help her. She has a degree in communications for UNC (trhat will help) but she just got it last year. I want her to scrap her resume and redo it, but she won't. (it's a Word template for chrissake)

When a friend says they want help yet they don't listen, it sucks. Maybe I should take my inspiration from Billy Bob Thornton's character in Bad Santa (without pissing on myself). Maybe if I'm mean to her now, she won't get her hopes up too much before the rejection letter hits. Yes, I know. There is always a chance; but realistically it is zero.

WARNING! Shallow statement ahead.

I'm assuming this girl is not very hot. If so, she wouldn't have a hard time landing a job.
