This is going to sound painfully stupid but...

Do they let small pets in dorm rooms? I have this parrot.. a few years old.. and they live like 80 freaking years. I'll be going off to college in a few years, and my parents REALLY dont like him. Maybe i can teach him to be a suck-up if im not allowed. Which I suspect is going to be the answer.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely they will allow anything but fish in your dorm room.

It varies from college to college though, so you'll have to check out the rules of the dorms on your college's website.

Hmmm in the movie Road Trip the guy had a snake :). Sorry but I doubt they would let you have one in a normal school.

i have never EVER heard of a dorm allowing anything but fish in a small tank.. hell it's hard enough to find an apt that allows pets.. if you really like your pets, try to find an offcampus apt that will allow pets..

It's times like this that I am glad I have private housing @ USC... sure it's not a "do whatever you want" type of atmosphere, but I do believe that it is a lot more lenient than dorm rooms =)

I plan on bringing my aquarium in my place... but I dunno if I want to go through all trouble of emptying the tank, taking out the fish... etc..

As far as your parrot is concerned... I'm almost certain that no college would allow such an animal in dorm premises... he might get a little too talkative during quiet hours.... tell your parents to learn to get together w/ your parrot while you're away =) good luck.

Here's an idea. DON'T LIVE IN A DORM!

Get yourself a roomate or two and rent a house or apartment off campus, save some money, and do whatever the hell you want.

<< A frat house might welcome him! >>

more like a frat house will eat him

what kinda parrot though? you need to think about it getting separation anxiety since you probably won't be in your room most of the time.

although a parrot is a great way to get women... just introduce it to some hottie you want and have her look at it occasionally... the plus is if the parrot's a male it'll bond pretty well with a female.

Have the parrot apply to the same school. After all he's already mastered what it takes to graduate.

My buddy who will be rooming with me this upcoming semester asked if birds were allowed...I told him they weren't (even though I wasn't sure) because there's no way in hell I'm living in a 12x10 room with a bird. They're the most annoying pets, ever
