This is getting pathetic now, seriously

According to this British newspaper Israel is now coordinating with the U.S terms for preemptive strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.
I say to this; "yeah right..."
To me that just sounds like a lot of barking for no biting. I'm not sure yet how I feel about a preemptive strike on Iran, perhaps its inevitable, but why would any of the participating parties would want to share this info (if its true) with some reporter anyway?

I'm wondering how reputable this site is. Reading through all their articles on this topic, sounds like its a "done deal" and we're (Isreal & USA) ready to strike.

Funny, our papers over here don't contain such stuff. Boy, sh!t would explode over here if our military struck Iran without a lot more discussion, Congressional oversight and allowing negotiations to run their course.

Papers/Magazines always have different stories in the US, don't you remember all those Newsweek Magazine covers 😛

Question---how does the press figure out what GWB&co are up to?---given the admin is somewhat leakproof unless they want to leak.---and unlike previous administrations where power is delegated among perhaps 5000 people---all the power in GWB&co seems confined to perhaps an inner circle of only 20 people or so calling all the shots.

Even then the long term journalist Seymour Herch seems to have totally nailed the Israeli incursion into Lebanon as a graphic object lesson on why we should not bomb Iran---and a totally repudiation of a Cheney brainfart.----but Seymour Herch has 30+ year relations with those very close to that inner circle of 20.----all the blogs and much of the rest of journalists might as well be writing fantasy fiction.

But certain things like the fact we have now concentrated around three air craft carrier strike groups off Iran is impossible to hide. I can only hope GWB&co does not decide to bomb Iran.
But I have zero faith in them to do the rational---so anything is possible---under administration secrecy.--we will likely hear about it after they screw the pooch.---because they now know no one will buy their stinking thinking---so why try to sell it when they can act instead?

I just heard from a friend tonight that he has joined the battle group off Iran. 🙁

why not again 🙂

be nice if it was tomorrow😉

1. learn how to spell

2. Israel has never bombed Iran. You perhaps are mistakenly referring to Iraq.

If Iran gets a nuke, Israel will be in grave danger. Despite the Iranian President's relative lack of popularity, there's no denying that plenty of other in the Iranian government feel the same way. They just don't scream it to the world. Unfortunately, Israel might have to nuke Iran if it comes down to it.

And for those who say "O NOES IRAN WOULD NEVER DO SUCH A THING!!!" They don't have to. There are plenty of terrorist organizations who would gladly take the nuke and blow it up in the middle of Jerusalem.

Well, I heard something on the news echoing the information in the UK site. The Pentagon is actively planning bombing strikes, and that has now been expanded beyond just targeting Iran's nuclear facilities and they are adding other targets intended to assist Iranian anti-government insurgents.

Lot of saber rattling going on.

Fearmonger much? Does hysterical raving get the old blood pumping?

Apparently, paranoia about the holocaust has now become justification for pre-emptive mass murder-

They said bad things, mommy! I'm gonna nuke 'em!

Which, amazingly, is accepted as completely rational...

Its also my understanding that Iran has enough chemical weapons to wipe out Israel---last time I checked Iran is showing restraint and acting rationally. And Iran know s full well that if they attack Israel with chemical weapons---the entire world will see Iran pays the price---and Israel does have the nukes to deliver that pay the price.

Jhhnn has it nailed when he states---Apparently, paranoia about the holocaust has now become justification for pre-emptive mass murder-

Right now---neither GWB&co or Israel is acting very rationally-----as they try to build mountains out of molehills---and throw rocks inside of glass houses. A clear case of the pot calling the kettle black.

With Bush and Co being caught red handed on Iraq they can't and likely won't simply outright attack them.

I'm waiting for a Gulf of Token that sparks it. At least similar to the one that occured with Iraq that set off Desert Storm (satelite pics of non existant armies massing on border).

Tell that to Hitler who attacked Poland over a phony Polish takeover of a German radio station the Germans phonied up to justify the attack.

Reality dictates that GWB&co can't attack Iran with boots on the ground----but is it just mere chance that we have three entire aircraft carrier strike groups just off the Iranian
coast right now?

Do you have a source for 3 carrier battle groups? I know of two; the USS Eisenhower and Stennis. The Stennis departed San Diego Jan 20th.

For offensive air operations against Iran, we would need 3 and preferrably 4 carrier battle groups to conduct sustained operaitons.

I know you love to sympathize with everyone who wants to kill the west, I understand that. Perhaps you might want to step back before proclaiming Iran is acting rational. Trying to piss off a major world power who is still trying to assert its power as well as piss off your most lethal close enemy (Israel) is not the best way to go for peace. Sending your aid to help kill American soldiers in Iraq is not going to make the US and Israel open there arms to you.

I understand that you are in the same boat of people who think that the US and Israel should sit back and take the punches and just smile and ask for more, but luckily you are not in command. If Iran does not want to be attacked, it should succumb to International pressure and lay off antagonizing everyone. If they don't well..

Generally speaking, I can say I agree with you. Iran has to be stopped. Iran is led by fanatic Muslims, who's outspoken agenda is the destruction of Israel in the short run, and every other western civilization in the long run.
For me there's one set back from being convinced a preemptive strike is in order right now. Though Iran is controlled by fanatic people, I believe most its population is being held prisoner by their regime (anyone remember how Iraqi people "volunteered" to serve as human shilled during 'desert storm'...), and I fear, that since Iran is a relatively powerful country, a preemptive strike will have to be a very very strong one in order to take Iran out of the equation as fast as possible. I think that such an attack can lead to many innocent casualties.
As I said before, this might be inevitable, but I myself am not convinced of the necessity of such measures just yet.

I have no way of knowing how accurate this report is, but you may want to remember that if Israel did bomb Iran's nuclear facilities, it wouldn't be the first time they've taken such steps. Israel bombed a Baghdad nuclear facility on June 7, 1981 for exactly the same reasons.
1981: Israel bombs Baghdad nuclear reactor

The Israelis have bombed a French-built nuclear plant near Iraq's capital, Baghdad, saying they believed it was designed to make nuclear weapons to destroy Israel.

It is the world's first air strike against a nuclear plant.

An undisclosed number of F-15 interceptors and F-16 fighter bombers destroyed the Osirak reactor 18 miles south of Baghdad, on the orders of Prime Minister Menachem Begin.

The army command said all the Israeli planes returned safely.

The 70-megawatt uranium-powered reactor was near completion but had not been stocked with nuclear fuel so there was no danger of a leak, according to sources in the French atomic industry.

Mortal danger

The Israeli Government explained its reasons for the attack in a statement saying: "The atomic bombs which that reactor was capable of producing whether from enriched uranium or from plutonium, would be of the Hiroshima size. Thus a mortal danger to the people of Israel progressively arose."
I also can't answer why any specific individual would share any info about current plans, but it could be a whistle blower on the inside who wanted to prevent it from happening, or it could be an intentional leak for any number of possible motives about something that either is or isn't really planned.

The U.S. doesn't have complete control over Israel, and I'm not ready to dismiss the report as quickly as you are.

To dphantom----I was under the impression it was three---but you may be right and its a mere two---but your link is better than a year old.

To RichardE---when you state---I know you love to sympathize with everyone who wants to kill the west, I understand that. Trying to piss off a major world power who is still trying to assert its power as well as piss off your most lethal close enemy (Israel) is not the best way to go for peace. I just point out that I sure don't sympathize with getting Americans killed---but your assertion that Iran is aiding the Iraqi insurgency is just not established---and flies in the face of logic. If Iran wanted to, it could funnel advanced weapons into the hands of Shia insurgents in large numbers---the resulting increase in US troops deaths would be huge---since that is not happening---there goes your assertion.---------but given that the GWB plan for Iraq is totally broken---we need a plan B to help stabilize Iraq---and Iran will be needed---and GWB&co. rhetoric will make bringing Iran along as an ally far more difficult-----------its your unsympathetic and irrational denial of reality--and your unwarranted support of GWB&co policy that will end up getting our troops killed.----and make obtaining a stable Iraq a far more difficult problem.

Get a clue---a neighbor in total civil war is not in Iran's interests.
