This is for you Mozilla Firebird users:

WOW, i never figured on this but Mozilla seems to use a LOT more memory and CPU cycles than IE. (could it be the IE is more efficient?)

here's the thing, I just got a 9700 AIW video card, when i am recording TV shows and stuff, it seems to really push my system.

When i start up Mozilla Firebird with the recording going on, you can see lag on the tv screen etc. With IE, almost nothing.

i was going to switch to Mozilla, but I think that i'll stay with IE. 🙂

edit.

it was 9700 not 9500 AIW.

Thats because IE is still running in the background. Simple fix is to use IE when recording, and Firebird otherwise.

That's because you obviously still use Explorer for a shell, so most of it is halfway loaded already (IE takes as long as Firebird to load when you don't have explorer.exe running).
Just killed Mozilla (1.4), after noting memory used. That's Mozilla (browser), and Mozilla mail. 203MB used.
Closed: 160MB used.
Opened IE and went to the same sites.
Opened OE and went to old inbox.
Waited until memory usage stopped rising.
183MB used.
So yeah, you're right. CPU usage didn't change, however, stayed hovering between 0% and 6% (Winamp).
But is that all?! No.
Started Mozilla back up and went to the said websites.
183.3MB used.
So overall, it appears to be quite close.

I've never checked on the memory usage, but I switched to Phoenix/Firebird a few months ago and haven't noticed any problems. I really like it and will never go back to IE again.

ya,

i tried uninstalling IE once, WOW was that a mistake. XP doesn't like having IE Unistalled.

hahahha ... nvr ever uninstalled IE if you still want to use winXP. Anyway, right now i'm using all three of them - IE, Opera and mozilla firebird. IT's really hard to choose the best but i set Opera as my default.
