Hey, my phone is dead, I can't get service anywhere. I bought the phone under ATTWS and so I was searching for a cheap one I could use as a replacement and since I thought I am under cingular with the merger I was about to buy someone's old cingular phone. However, after talking with Cingular I discovered I have to buy an ATTWS phone and I can't put my ATTWS sim card in a cingular phone nor call Cingular to have my SIM card changed to a CIngular sim card. I dont understand what is so hard about changing the SIM card from ATTWS to Cingular!!!! Is it possible my CSR didn't know what she was talking about?

Possible, can't say for sure til I talk to my fiancee (she's a ATT/Cingular International CSR). She'd probably know more than I would.

While i'm not an international CSR, im failry positive that you can in fact use your sim card with a cingular phone, as long as it's unlocked. That's why the rep that you talked to told you you couldn't, because the majority of Cingular's phones purchased directy from them come locked (meaning they only work with cingular sim cards). However, you can purchase an unlocked phone from ebay or the sort. The cingular subforum at howardforums (http://cingular.howardforums.com) has wayyyyyy more information on the subject, if you're curious.

Thanks, yeah I tried to put my SIM in my dad's samsung cingular phone but it wouldn't work. Maybe I'll try to unlock his old nokia and use it for the time being
