This is dumb, but I can't unroll my new chairmat. UPDATE: UNROLLED AT LAST!

ATOT, I HAVE CONQUERED THE CHAIR MAT!

The mat was too big to soak in the tub, so I put it in the shower and ran hot water over it for about 30 minutes. That softened it up enough that I was able to partially unroll it. With a bit of force, I basically unrolled into a giant C.

At that point, I tried my heat gun on it. After about 30 seconds of that, my fire alarm went off. So I dragged the mat to the garage and started working there. It took about 30 minutes of the heat gun to get the mat to lay sorta flat. Took about another 30 minutes of the heatgun to get it flat enough that I brought it back inside and laid it on the carpeting. Hopefully it will flatten fully with time.

MS Paint diagram (because what would this thread be without a shitty drawing).

Hmm, what if it curls back up while you are sitting on it? You could suffocate. The Chairmat Constrictor.

So I'm guessing after the hot water and heat gun treatment, the instructions on unrolling your chair mat were unreadable. luckily for future generations of chair mat users, your illustrations will be available!

I'm worried. We haven't heard from the OP for two days ... I think he has been trapped in the chair mat when it unexpectedly re-rolled itself.

I kept getting this image of a body builder strong man straining with clenched teeth to open the chair mat... so extreme for just a chairmat.

I always remember what a Marine Drill Sergeant used to tell me. "You need to be smarter than the chair mat, son." I took that lesson to heart and it's served me well low, these many years.
