Seriously? No real pictures yet? You seem to have plenty of time considering you haven't been able to unroll it yet.
I've been pretty busy. I might get to it this weekend.

We need pics at this point.![]()
Thread of the year.
it's only January.
Screw pics; I want the webcam!
and an hourly update via twitter:
Is the mat unrolled?
No! ( )
Yes! ( )
So, I found the directions. They're about a layer or two inside the rolled up chair mat. It's blurry to read since I'm reading through a layer or two of plastic. I can only read the titles but one of them is "Unrolling Your Chairmat".
Terrible place to put the directions![]()
My apartment's the same way.Once again, cheap chair mats work for certain things. I have a $60 chairmat from Office Depot for my computer desk. My house has really soft carpeting, so the chair wheels sink into little valleys which make it hard to move. Not a problem though since I'm sitting in one spot.
This new chair mat is going in my electronics lab / indoor work area. I need the ability to roll my chair around from one area to another area with relative ease or I'm going to be come frustrated very quickly. That's why I bought the thick $200 premium mat. Also, this mat is larger than you what you can buy in any office store.
No to be thread of the year this thread needs a few more things:
The webcam
More MS Paint pictures of floor mats
When we finally get a pic of the office mat rolled up it needs to include a scantily clad woman laying over top of it.
Then I would vote this thread 10/10
Haha, that's like the package opening tool (for the heat-sealed hard plastic packages electronics come it), it was packaged with the same stuff and was labeled "the last package you will struggle to open!"
My apartment's the same way.
I bought a mat made of multiple slats of wood or bamboo, and I think it's got a fabric backing. It's reasonably good. It still flexes and sinks a bit beneath the chair, but it's solid and the chair rolls - too easily, in fact. Because of the position of my desk and the wear patterns on the carpet, it's slightly sloped, so my chair wants to roll me away from the computer.
Also, I bet the problems you're having were due to excessive heat. I've seen that happen with some wire insulation after exposure to 75-85°C temperatures for a few weeks: It stiffens a lot, almost to the point of becoming brittle. I bet that yours sat on the top shelf of a warehouse for a few weeks, or in a hot shipping container, before making it to the store.
This coming from exposure to cold temperatures though....I just wouldn't expect that to affect the molecular structure, at least assuming you're not doing something like -50°C.![]()
Holy shit! still not open!

I haven't had time for any drastic measures like a heat gun or soaking in a tub. However, I am still as incapable of unrolling it as I was when it first arrived.
fill up tub, throw in mat, walk away?
