Hey guys I have a c2-533@900 and some DiVX movies on playback take up all my cpu resources (100% in task manager) and they are choppy. I have another PC that is a c-450 and the same movie only takes up 60-70% cpu usuage on that PC ?!. That Pc uses Win 2k Pro on a Voodoo 3.

I'v tried getting the latest detonator drivers (6.5) and upgraded to dx8. I'm using WM7 and the Divx 3.11 codec. I also have Win ME on the server (900mhz machine) and tried running the movie on that, but it's slow and jerky in that OS too. So this leads me to think it could be hardware prob ? What should I check guys ?

that is quite odd ... are both of the PCs on BX boards ??? or is one on a different chipset ...

if they are both BX boards ... then i wouldnt have any clue about your problem ...

but if you have your 533@900 on like an apollo pro 133 or something ... that could be the cause ... but i could be wrong here ...

good luck

Yeah both systems use the BX chipset. I even ran that divx movie on my p3-600 notebook and playback was fine on that too. This is a really weird problem 🙁

rbV5, I checked my bios and I have it enabled. How do I check in win 2k server if it is on ?. During playback the hdd is not used alot anyway. I've tried playing the same divx over the network and it still took 100% cpu. Odd.
