We're supposed to get rain tomorrow here in San Diego. I can't wait. It rains so seldom here, I love it when it rains.
San Diego Dry Weather May Set New Record
SAN DIEGO -- If it doesn't rain today, San Diego will tie a record for the longest period without rain, but a chance of precipitation this weekend could stop the region from setting a new record, a forecaster said.
The last time it rained in the San Diego area was 180 days ago -- on April 17, forecaster Dan Atkin of the National Weather Service said.
"The amazing thing about this is that we broke the record just last year, so that's two years in a row with record streaks of no measurable rainfall in the San Diego area," Atkin said.
But with a 20 percent chance of rain predicted for Saturday evening, it was unclear whether the record would be broken this year, Atkin said.
"If the rain holds off until Sunday morning, then the record will be broken by one day," Atkin said.
