3 banks robbed as city prepared, held officers' rites

Authorities are investigating three bank robberies in two days in Pittsburgh, all of which occurred during ceremonies or preparations to honor three slain officers that drew thousands of police from other areas.

Two banks were robbed yesterday, a Fidelity Bank branch in the city's Troy Hill section and a Northwest Savings Bank Downtown. Both happened in the afternoon while officers gathered at a memorial service for the officers who were shot during a domestic dispute Saturday.

On Wednesday morning, a National City Bank branch near the University of Pittsburgh campus was robbed as police prepared a public visitation for the officers in the City-County building later that day.

No arrests have been made in any of the robberies.

I guess desparate times call for desparate measures.

That is in Erie not Pittsburgh, wrong part of the state

I forgot it was in Erie, but let's be honest... they are like 2 hours away from each other.

I am from the cool side of the state (North East Baby). All the westerner PA'ers are all yinzers to me anyway.

As soon as the Republicans present a viable candidate, I'll consider an alternative. Lynn Swann?? You had to be fucking kidding me. The only thing he had going for him is at least 1/3 of the state are such diehard Stillers fans. They tried the same thing by getting JoePa's kid to run against Timmy Holden (at least it wasn't the one who is a shitty coach). And let's not forget that complete asshat Rick Santorum, the scumbag who tried to live in Virginia and force the tax payers to pay for his brats to go to an expensive private school.
