Apparently, I heard rumors that in my History class, they count one absent if you are caught sleeping. Is that crap or what?

Ever had classes like that?

I guess that'd be a reason to not get caught sleeping then. But since it's history class I can't blame ya.

in my discrete structures class, our teacher would chunk a dirty eraser at you if you fell asleep. It was always fun to watch for someone nodding off unless it happend to be you :)

in the end, you're going to find out that it doesn't matter, unless you don't graduate and go to college and get a job and get etc, etc, etc...

dabuddha, my calc teacher in HS was like that, until he missed once and bonked the girl behind the sleeping kid. Hit her right in the face. Oh god, i laughed so hard.

I had one student in my class that was always falling asleep. (He had a night job). Anyway, once after trying to wake him 3 or 4 times, (he snored too) we just all got up quietly and left to another classroom. I called the principal and he waited there for him to wake up. He didn't sleep in my class again. Oh, after 3 warnings, I also started to mark the sleeper absent. Why shouldn't I? He wasn't there!

I used to sit way behind the class where the attendant sheet was left for pick up. Whenever I miss a class, the next day I would take the attendant sheet when the teacher is not looking and bubble my attendence in :).

I once got caught sleeping in class, ended up standing up for the rest of the remaining class :( but funnie thing was I fell asleep standing up. You should have seen the teacher's face. Boy was he pissed. That was Econ :)

<<they count one absent if you are caught sleeping>>

I guess they count mental and not just physical presence.

there's no one making you attend college classes... you're not in high school any more.

sleeping in class is one of the worst forms of disrespect towards a professor. if you think that pissing off the teacher won't hurt your grade, think again.

either stay awake or stay home.

I once fell asleep in my HS Chem class once. I always gave that teacher hell, but it was all in good fun. Well, one day he got even with me. I feel asleep in his class. The way that I fell asleep was that I put my head on my arm to rest it there. Whenever he saw me sleeping like this, he jerked my arm out from under my head and head nailed the desk! It frikkin' hurt bad and I was pretty POed, but I soon learned that it was my fault and to not fall asleep again.

This didn't stop my constant badgering of him though. I think the next week, I asked him what a papshmere was, just to see what he would do. I really acted like I didn't know what it was and just kept on him. AH, the good ol' days of HS. :)

If sleeping in class counted as an absence, then I would have never "gone" to class...

True. I do come to that class wide awake and even wrote down a good deal of notes. But there are those dozes that usually get me.
