Well? when i put my vortex 2 on 5 it crashes after 3 seconds of audio, so when i went into the BIOS and set IRQ 5 to legacy ISA(which i have none of) it started using IRQ 10, not ir works for audio for 20-30min, what IRQ would it prefer? so it works all the time?

ok i got it! my sound card likes IRQ 11!, before it would never play games, i just rebooted changed it to IRQ 11 and tried UT, it worked, then i tried RS, it worked. Can anyone explain why my soundcard is selective in its IRQ's? isint one irq the same as any other? 🙂 Oh and can anyone explain why after a clean install my Voodoo 3 stopped using a IRQ? but still works fine in games?

I dunno about the Voodoo 3, but PCI sound cards often (if ever) don't like to share IRQs. I'm guessing the IRQs you previously used were probably shared with other devices. I have seen a listing that shows what PCI slots, etc., use what IRQs/addresses. I've slept since then. I just try a slot, and if it doesn't work, I pick another.

From what I've read in the forums, W2K can handle sharing IRQs much better than W9x can.
