is there some piece of software the will scale down my 1600x1200 LCD panel to other resolutions like 1024x768 with out the interpolation. I'm talking about disabling some of the pixels around the edge of your panel and only using the center 1024x768 pixels. This would give higher refresh rates in games without losing the image quality... just the size I suppose.

Refresh Rate on LCD ... hmmm, isn't that supposed not to be a problem ?

I do not own an LCD monitor, so I'm not sure, just trying to know.

It's just that I've read many times LCDs don't flicker, so they don't need 90+ Hz like CRTs for eye strain-less display.

normally such software comes with the monitor, or can be adjusted on the OSD.

it will not give better "refresh rates" but you will have more "frames per second" so the game will run more smoothly

7800 GTX right? Check your forceware drivers under "Digital Flat Panel Settings" and select "Centered output". Presto! Centered 1024 x 768. Like biostud said, no change in refresh rates but definite increase in fps.

this sounds like exactly what I am talking about, could I get a little more direction on how to find that menu.

also, I meant FPS not refresh rates... my bad.
