Why, when people take pics of their car, do they blur out the lisence plates? I mean, it's public info, and it's not like some random schmuck on the internet is worse than all the people who see it every day on the road...

The internet is a much larger audience with many more douchebags than your local population.
 
paranoia about internet stalkers....for some, knowledge is power.

anonymity on the net is a great, comfortable thing to have.

The internet is a much larger audience with many more douchebags than your local population.

Yeah, plus the people who see your plate every day are driving cars when they do and they also see hundreds others.
People who are looking at your car online are already sitting in front of a computer likely with nothing better to do because they're looking at pictures of cars on the internet
