From the local Easy-Ad: (their spelling, not mine ;) )

"IBM campatable computer, MSBOS 3.3, Windows 95, 4MB memory. Also keypad with mouse and twin speakers, plus citizen GSX-230 Matrix printer, $225" :Q

Poor bastard, probably won't believe that his comp's not worth $25, let alone $225!

LMAO. This guy is seriously delusional if he thinks he will get $225 for that crap! Maybe the lucky buyer can play solitaire and write in their fancy new Wordperfect V. 2. The possiblities are endless....for 1995. :p

Doubt that. People are stupid when it comes to the prices of electronics, but a simple glance at any of Sunday's circulars will probably show a computer that costs around $500 with all of the fixings that has much more fancy numbers to oohh and ahhhh the consumer.

Here is what I found on my today(4/10) local paper ad:

"99 Gateway Computer, complete w/HD, 16" monitor, works great, $250" LOL

You can buy a brand new Dell puter model 2400 for $339 (before discount) with the following specs: Intel® Celeron® processor at 2.40 with 400MHz front side bus and 128 KB L2 cache, Intel 845GV chipset, Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition, WordPerfect® Productivity Pack, 128 MB - 1 GB shared2 Single Channel DDR 266MHz (400MHz front side bus) or 333MHz (requires 533MHz front side bus) SDRAM, 2 DIMM slots.

Sure, but it's not a Gateway. :D

I sold a Fujitsu laptop with a 10" monitor, Pentium 100, Win 95 and 16 MB of RAM for $150 at a garage sale. I priced it at $200 as a joke.

People will pay it.

Absolutely no joke.. The guy is without a doubt for real.

Come to southside Virginia and see what people will pay for junk...

A local computer store that is now out of business was selling the locals around here RAM at the low, low price of $1.00 per meg... Of course it was a good deal because that was the installed price and we all know how difficult it is to install RAM.

The store sold mostly crap (they hit the state surplus auctions) and people paid high dollars.

This area is, after all, basically a retirement home for the under/uneducated. Yup, Mayberry on crack with no hospital, 3 funeral homes, 2 cops, and more churches than people.

Oh yeah, to keep it fully on topic... Local Classified Ad for the area..

Plentum 3, 400mhz, 64 RAM, 10gig, 15" monitor, Windows 98, MS Works Suite, modem, network, USB, keyboard, mouse. Asking only $550

haha, you guys are saying how he's asking too much when in fact he's being pretty smart about it. He'll probably get someone to buy it close to what he's asking.

exactly, and he's not necessarily stupid. Me? I'm going to sell an old Celeron 433mhz with 128mb of ram and a 5gb hard drive for $300, $400 with monitor. I'll say it runs great for checking e-mail, doing a little bit of office work, using word, etc., nothing hardware intensive. If they want specs, they can ask, otherwise it's good enough to do everyday tasks. Yes, there are idiots who will pay the $400 for it even though $500 will get them a new 2GHz+ Celeron with monitor at a best buy.

Maybe....but there's a P133 right below his ad, for $40....even that would SMOKE his 'campatable' :D And there's also P3-450s for $170. But then, they don't come with a Matrix printer!

Step One: Move to Virginia with lots of cheap RAM
Step Two: ???
Step Three: Profit!
