Bedford attorney loses license after accusations that he kept clients' money

Bedford attorney William T. "Tom" Engle Jr. has surrendered his law license after accusations that he kept tens of thousands of dollars of clients' funds and was engaged in conduct involving "fraud, deceit, dishonesty and misrepresentation," the State Bar of Texas announced this week.
...
He could seek reinstatement of his license if he pays seven clients restitution totaling $369,421.29, according to bar documents. But that seems unlikely given Engle's professed distaste for a profession he worked in for nearly three decades, as well as a personal bankruptcy that he said shields him from repaying most of his former clients.

"I never have liked practicing law, never enjoyed it, never really wanted to be a lawyer," said Engle, a 1982 graduate of Baylor University. "I have no desire whatsoever to ever try to get my license back."
...
Engle said that he is doing "nothing" and that he is broke and losing his house.

Damn, I think i'd rather have Lionel Hutz as my attorney.

Lionel Hutz: Now, Apu, Mrs. Simpson claims that she *forgot* that bottle of... delicious... bourbon. Brownest of the brown liquors... so tempting.

[holds the bottle to his ear]

Lionel Hutz: [whispering] What's that? You want me to drink you? But I'm in the middle of a trial!

you'd be surprised how many lawyers stop practicing after about 5 years because they hate it so much.

Why do they hate it so much? Don't they know what they are getting into?

do you actually think this is uncommon? Go to any state bar's website or look at their monthly publication, and you'll see at least 10 of the same story (lawyer being disbarred for misappropriating client funds) on a monthly basis.
