It just amazes me that a certain segment of our population will crave so much to appear high class that they'll overpay for just about anything and everything. The market for vanity appears boundless.

To be honest they serve this type of ice in certain bars where they are known for cocktails and the melting rate makes a world of difference.

No, genius found. He realized a market for his product before he even made the first one. look at $300 Monster HDMI cables which can be had for around $11 at monoprice, but whoever started the company knew that even AV cables can have snob appeal. Same with bottled water, many just use city water and filter it, then charge you $1/bottle for what cost them $.15 to bottle and market.

Or bottled anything. People turn up their noses at $8 ice but pay $2 for a bottle of coke. That's a ripoff.

Medical companies have been doing this type of things for years.

Ever seen people list what a 3 dollar or so bag of saline solution looks like on a hospital bill these days.

I haven't personally but have heard things I guess.
