Reminds me of every golden retriever I've ever known. You think he's adorable no matter what he's doing, it's built into the breed.

Pretty much it. If a golden retriever ate a baby everyone would say "oh, the poor thing must have been so hungry!".

Is this not the proper way to train a dog?

Clearly the first two did it wrong.

I can't help but feel that either:

a. The golden's trainer really overestimated her control over his behavior, OR
b. The course's layout surprised the golden's trainer with the distractions

And of course they would blame the infant death on a pit bull.
"I saw one I swear!"

You can easily use this to get away with murder, as long as you make the wounds look like dog bites. In fact, I think most major news corporations now pay $20 for every pit bull report. So you can make money doing this.

There, that should get this thread some hits.
Oh and also, CATS.

Such a typical golden retriever. "Honey? Where'd you put the two loaves of bread from the grocery store?" "I thought you put them away. Didn't you bring them in from the car?" "I'll go look." Meanwhile, nom nom nom nom.

Evolution in action, man. Take one look at that face, and you're seeing thousands of years of fitness being defined as getting a human to say "Oh, how cute! Let's feed him!"

Get over it,

Yes I know, it's cause they have bad owners.. well on a planet with a very high percentage of useless/dumb people it means the odds are high that pit bulls will have bad owners.

Seems odd that the dog is able to stay, though.

Why doesn't the dog just go immediately for the food if it's so undisciplined?

Don't know. I had to take care of a neighbor's SP for a little while. Without exception, it peed all over the floor every time it got excited. It doesn't matter how often it went outside.

I've had both, and I have a golden/lab mix and a golden/standard poodle mix now. I'm not sure what you mean by better. The poodle mix is smart, and lovable, but excitable and jumpy. The lab mix is dumb as a box of rocks, but as loyal and friendly as he could be, and also he feels like his life is completely fulfilled if he just gets to lie on my office floor while I work.

We were going to get a Golden Doodle but ended up with a Cockapoo. Might have been better off since the Cocker in him can be a little too overprotective and high strung but my daughter's allergist recommended the smaller breed and holy crap is he freaking cute.

Poodles are ugly and they smell bad. It's like someone said, "Let's take all the worst qualities of schnauzers and put them in a bigger bag."

Golden Retrievers are the epitome of what an animal buddy should be.

They are like bundles of pure life - and, they are just awesome.
