a. The golden's trainer really overestimated her control over his behavior, OR
b. The course's layout surprised the golden's trainer with the distractions

I've had both, and I have a golden/lab mix and a golden/standard poodle mix now. I'm not sure what you mean by better. The poodle mix is smart, and lovable, but excitable and jumpy. The lab mix is dumb as a box of rocks, but as loyal and friendly as he could be, and also he feels like his life is completely fulfilled if he just gets to lie on my office floor while I work.

We were going to get a Golden Doodle but ended up with a Cockapoo. Might have been better off since the Cocker in him can be a little too overprotective and high strung but my daughter's allergist recommended the smaller breed and holy crap is he freaking cute.
