Filing a falsified police report in my state is considered a felony and would warrant jail time. I have seen this happen with similar false rape reports.

Maybe she lied because she thought nothing would happen to her even if she was caught, now there is some known deterrent.

Its a shame that more cases of false accusation and/or lying to a police officer, which are crimes, are not prosecuted.

If you were given the choice of being raped or falsely accused of raping someone else, which one would you choose?

Well considering one you're forced to do something you don't want to do, and the other that same thing could be happening for years on end because someone lied about what I did I honestly think I would take being raped.

Imagine a man prepared his basement to hold a woman captive for years. He then went out and tried to kidnap a woman, but luckily she was able to escape.

Would an 18 month prison term be warranted?

How is what this woman did practically any different other than she tried to get the government to do her dirty work?

She should go to prison and have her life forever financially ruined by the civil suit he should bring against her.

Not to mention lying in a court of law under oath I would presume.

Oh my god, the outrage!

And so the true story came out after CCTV footage caught the whole thing and her entire diatribe blew up in her face when the hotel cams caught their every move and her false story with it.

I know that the UK is probably the biggest nanny state there is, but seriously? CCTV in the freaking hotel rooms? What kind of fucking pervy peepshow does that country run!?!

How is the analogy absurd?

She was attempting to get the government to hold him captive in prison for a significant period of time.

In a practical sense how is that different than a man attempting to kidnap a woman and hold her prisoner in his basement dungeon?

False rape accusers not only damage the lives of those falsely accused but also take away from real victims, yes this cow should have been punished, possibly even longer.

You're heavily entangled with the absurdity so trying to point it out to you is a waste of time.

Instead I shall just point and laugh at you.

It's not the words that are the issue, it's the consequences of those words.

Exactly. The words damage him and his life, but they also damage the credibility of actual rape victims, which is truly awful.

I'd say 9-12 months is more appropriate; which is probably what she'll end up serving. Good on the judge for factoring in the early release.

False rape accusations can destroy a persons life. She should stay be charged as appropriately for trying to destroy someones life.

No. False rape accusation should carry similar sentencing periods to actual rape - they're both horrific, they're both taking advantage of someone in a vulnerable position, and they both have the potential to completely ruin a person's life.

Spot on

Yes, that's true enough. But words versus deeds should not have equal standing when you are looking at sentencing, in my opinion at least, which is not worth a plugged nickel.

Just like perjury and libel, if those words lead to negative consequences for someone else, you should be held to account for those words. Her lies could have destroyed someone's life and landed them in jail. That should be punished severely, just like a rapist should be punished severely.

There should be some kind of punishment for this sort of thing but those trying to say that false accusations of rape are as bad as actual rape are off their rocker.

That's because you're an idiot, as you prove here on an almost daily basis.

It comes as no surprise that someone who's named themselves after a Star Wars character has revealed himself as being emotionally stunted.
