I have been "acquainted with" a few people whose conversations all too often do indeed run along those lines, broadly speaking, and no, they are definitely not among those I voluntarily "hang out" with...Funny you should mention that... one semester while I was in law school, I interned for a federal judge and of course a day I showed up in shorts (deemed acceptable for mere "interns" as long as they didn't go into the courtroom) was of course a day when a couple of AUSAs appeared asking for a TRO against what must've been some seriously "interesting" videos (or possibly at the time, even "films") confiscated from a flight into JFK from somewhere in Europe (I say "seriously interesting" considering what was readily available here legally in the late 80s.) And while I dimly recall that for one reason or another they ended up not actually being played in court, that was the original plan...
The judge's senior clerk at the time (a very laid-back, older woman who'd gone to law school after working for years as an RN), actually asked if I wanted her to delay the hearing long enough for me to run home (just a few blocks away) and change so I could go into court in the well (the judge was on senior status and this was one of the less boring cases he heard during my "tenure".) But I wasn't that pruriently interested and as an earnest law student, thought it was a not-quite-appropriate reason to make everyone sit around waiting. (As far as reasons for courtroom delays go, little did I know then...
) As consolation though, we spent a good 5 minutes cracking jokes about our versions of the imagined reaction of the judge, an early Eisenhower appointee (!) who was in his late 80s or early 90s at the time - with particular reference to what someone of his age and life-experience likely would or would not find "obscene" under the "know it when he saw it" standard. Let's just say, we'd figured he'd probably seen a lot by his age... :biggrin:

A lot more...the persecution, getting bullied, societal rejection, being fired from your job...
but you get to share clothing...so, worth it for a lot of folks.

For my mind's-eye's sake, if nothing else, I'm quite pleased to say I've never seen it myself, but I have heard that there's a video produced at one point or another by one of the big gay porn studios involving the definitely non-traditional use of a traffic cone for purposes relevant to this thread...
Exactly how far down on that particular item the guy managed to, erm, "go", however, I really wouldn't care to speculate... it's been difficult enough keeping my mind's-eye tightly shut long enough to post this comment...PS: I have no idea how much they had to pay that particular performer... [ETA: though upon further reflection, I do imagine there are at least a handful of guys out there (double-entendre unintentional, but in restrospect quite apt) who would've done it without a particularly large financial incentive.:whiste:]

I actually read something about that. It has to do with the diminishing rewards and the need to look at more and more "forbidden" subjects.

Afaik that's just armchair psychologizing. Yes I just made that word up, it's a thing I do while armchair intellectualizing. Still, I doubt it since adolescents and adults use porn at basically the same rates, and if the diminishing returns thing were true we would expect adults to use more to compensate.
I'd guess that peoples' tastes wander as they get to be more at ease because they're more willing to consider things off the beaten path; they already had an interest but had refused to acknowledge it even to themselves because they couldn't bring themselves to.

This right here. The research does not back up the anti-porn movements slippery slope argument. The real reason that people trend to more edge porn is that as you get older your peer group's opinion has less influence over you so you are more willing to let your freak flag fly.
The basic premise that as you get older your peer group has less influence over you is well documented.
