This gas explosion in Taiwan

holy shit. i heard about this and thought it was just another propane tank exploding. this is like that scene from die hard.

I'm glad my amp has overload protection.

I was watching the truck one and it shut my system sound off completely.

Woah that's insane. It's like detonating rope, it just follows all the pipes. Not even sure what makes it stop, maybe safety valves or something.

Happens so fast too, there is no way you are outrunning that or even know it's about to happen.

Who needs fuses, (let's save $0.10), what could possibly go wrong ?

It looks more like the aftermath of 9/11, or a huge earthquake zone.

what happened was an industrial pipeline for propene (not propane) leaked into the sewer system, which ignited and exploded.

That guy in front of the store has probably achieved orbit.😱

I didn't even notice that guy the first time I watched. Ouch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propene

Propene acts as a central nervous system depressant via allosteric agonism of the GABAA receptor. Excessive exposure may result in sedation and amnesia

So at least you'll feel sort of ok about your town blowing up, and then you'll forget it happened.

I don't think these were gas pipe explosions. Some of the drone video shows trenches/concrete walls underground.

These look like storm drains or sewers that exploded - natural gas, or gasoline might have leaked in and been trapped. Gas vapor then ignited.

Edit - too late, looks like someone already said that this is what it was - an industrial gas leaked into sewers/storm drains.

Holy fuckballs. That latest one is the one to watch.

Kind of a perfect storm going on here- that gas must've had a ton of time to disperse and hit a pretty optimal air/fuel ratio before it got ignited.
