I was wondering if any of you guys new how to get around this error. HL:2 Lost Coast works fine, the online games do not. I've tried everything on the following site and more without any improvement.

http://supportwiki.steampowere..._currently_unavailable

I've deleted the game files and reinstalled them without any improvement.

I had L4D working at the start for a good period of time. When I exited the game, I got a blue screen (didn't catch the stop error) and from that point on, I cannot play L4D nor CS:S.

This is on Windows Server 2008 32bit.

Asus M3A79T-Deluxe, AMD Phenom II 940, Gskill 4GB DDR2 Ram, ATI48701GB, Enermax 625W, WD1500BLFS.

Any suggestions?

I don't have any non-steam games :/

I have just uninstalled steam, valve, l4d, etc. I also went through the registry and manually deleted all entries associated with them.

In the process of reinstalling L4D...

My brother has Crysis, I guess I could try installing that.

Clearing the registry and full reinstall seemed to work. Odd that i had to go through all of this work! (in this day and age!)

Well, you are trying to run games on an operating system that was never meant for workstation use. That could, I don't know, have contributed in some small way.

I've had my share of experiences with Server 2008. IMO it's too much of a hassle to setup and get games working on it so I don't bother even if it was free. I got Vista Ultimate and that was that.

Any reason why it is harder in Server2008? I've enabled all the graphic gimmicks so that it is practically vista. Server2008 was free to me, and by the time it asks me to register it, I would have installed Windows 7 probably... :)
