I go and take six microsoft exams and get certified in MCSE for Win2000. I take CompTIAs A+ and Networks+ and am now certified in Lotus as well. I finally get the call for a job interview today, and they ask me if I have an MCSE in Windows NT4!! WTH?!? I have five of the six tests needed to pass for an MCSEin NT4, are there any still left that arent retired? I need an elective to finish this off.

Anyone know offhand?

Interesting. My boss is MCSE certified for Win NT, but obviously not W2K. I would think that W2K certification would be "backwards compatible", no?

I'll bet that being you're W2K certified, you could do anything in NT.

Interestingly enough, I'm starting my requirements for W2K Pro/Server certification, on the way to MCSE. 😎
 
No, I have been given the job. This guy now wants me to finish my MCSE in WinNT4....I said the samething you did, Isnt the 2000 MCSE good enough to be backwards compatible? His reponse was: How badly do you want this job?

..my obvious answer included a pair of kneepads and lipstick, but seeing as I had an easy out by passing one final Microsoft exam, it then became a "no brainer."

Well heck, then go ahead and take the test and keep your new employer smiling. Besides, it's just one more set of letters you can put on your business cards. 🙂
 
Yup, but I dont know what tests are still left for the MCSE NT4...

Anyone know?

Actually, being that you have as many tests as you do in WinNT, you're technically already there, minus the 1 required which is just fluff really. You'll also need to quickly knock out your 2000 MCSE as they're already starting to retire tests from that one as well in favor of the .NET, and XP tests.

I'd just give Microsoft a call and find out. I thought they'd retired all of them, though. And they've just started up the 2003 MCSE's... time to look at recertifying.
