This election will be Bush/Dukakis all over again.

I don't recall Dukakis having much "hype," to borrow your expression.

I don't see much comparison between the two elections, except in the sense that Dukakis and Kerry are both Massachusetts liberals. The elder Bush was a centrist in most respects, and fiscally conservative, whereas GWB is extremely conservative socially but extraordinarily liberal fiscally. GWB is an incumbent, whereas his father was not. The polls show a tremendous (unprecedented, in fact) polarization of the electorate in the present election, and relatively very few undecided voters, which was not at all the case in 1988.

As for the outcome, I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see President Bush win, nor would I be surprised to see Sen Kerry win. We shall see . . .

You are 100% he wont be going to disneyland. He will be too busy deciding on his cabinet and preparing for his new residence. ;)

Bush on the other hand will be able to actually take a vaction where he doesnt have to act like he is working.

There is far more fervor on both sides than Bush vs Dukakis.

I can't say who will win, but I do think it will be by a razor thin margin either way.

Absolutely, the Country is a heck of a lot more divided. Most say as divided as anyone can ever recall.

When did President Bush get into a tank wearing a helmet that made him look dumb(er)? What a missed photo op!

I sure hope you're talking about Kerry, because otherwise you're terribly, terribly wrong. I don't see either one of them being a uniter, but Bush much less so than Kerry.

Kerry is getting many Republicans behind him. Sounds like more of a uniter to me.

Bush divided this nation with his little revenge romp into Iraq at the bequest of the PNAC chickenhawks. He also tossed aside world support resulting from the 9/11 attacks.

This election is closer to the 1980 one than any others in recent times.

Twenty years later, the latest survey by the Los Angeles Times finds roughly 60% of Americans polled believe the country is on the wrong track. With troops bogged down in a Middle East conflict and most voters still feeling uneasy about the economy, this election year has a lot more in common with 1980 than 1984.

So it comes down to the debates and whether Kerry comes off as presidential.

Big deal, Nixon won in a landslide for his second term and look how that turned out.

Wow. Nice unsubstantiated post.

Nice sig. Do you stay positive by repeating reassuring mantras to yourself before you go to sleep at night? "I am not a loser. I am not a loser. Gay people will burn in hell. Gay people will burn in hell. George Bush will win the election. George Bush will win the election..."

Wake up. Use reason and you will see this is not Bush/Dukakis all over again and that the only thing you really support in this world is wishful thinking.

And McCain can't even get the nomination!

Anyone can just throw out certain polls and come up with any data you want. That doesn't make your data any better. Polls should be taken with caution (see my posts in the 'Polls are stupid' thread). But there isn't any significant difference in the Zogby and Rasmussen polls from the other polls in most places. And when it comes to 1% lead here or there, the state is a tossup - either could win and any poll can be right or wrong.

That sight does list more polls. We can start at the top. Lets look at states with multiple recent polls (not 3 months old) that include those polls you dislike as well as others.
[*]Alabama. Rasmussen: B53, Capital Research B54.
[*]Arizona. Zogby: B49, Maxon-Dixon: B50.
[*]Arkansas. Zogby: B47, Survey USA B48.
[*]California. Rasmussen: B39, American Res. Group: B41.
[*]Colorado. Rasmussen: B46, Public Opinion Strat: B45.
[*]Florida: Rasmussen: B48, Zogby: B48, Survey USA: B51, Strategic Vision B46
[*]Iowa: Gallup: B48, Zogby: B47
[*]Maine: American Res Group: B44, Zogby B43.
[*]Michigan: Epic: B44, Zogby B46, Rasmussen B46.
[*]Minnesota: Zogby: B45, Strategic Vision: B45

I give up typing. In case after case the difference between the polls you dislike and others is usually 1% and sometimes 2%. I can't justify saying they are bad when they give basically the same result as other recent polls in state after state.

there are far more dedicated persons on this board that could lend credibility to a Bush victory claim...
so I'll defer to those better than I to do the work for me :)

Okay, I'm waiting for the neocon cavalry to come to the rescue.

And it's not just that you're claiming a Bush win (hey, it looks like there's decent odds of that happening right now), it's that you're saying it with certainty AND that this is like Dukakis in '88.
