This disgusts me...

I don't know if any of you remember this... I don't. But I was in a meeting today with some other RA's and two of my bosses, we were discussing the possibility of war, etc... and someone mentioned that during the Gulf War, there were some sort of military "trading cards" that were made, for kids to play with...

The first thought that came to mind was "That's revolting!" Honestly... war isn't a game, and it isn't something to be taken lightly, even as propaganda...

I dunno. Maybe I'm too pacifist for my own good. Does anyone remember or know what I am talking about?

I had a set. It had the different millitary vehicles and a brief summary of each. Very cool when you're 11.
Yep, those were cool...

I had some then too, my best friend at the time had a ton and gave me a bunch.

It's not meant as propeganda, it's meant to make the best out of a bad situation. No one wants war, but when it comes, moral has to be kept as high as possible. That is one way they did that.

huh, didn't see em. of course, that was when i was between trading baseball cards and then later the comic book cards (still got some sealed boxes of some things somewhere and then magic cards and then i got out of all that carp.)

Oh, man... I need to dig through my old stack of baseball/basketball cards, see if I have any that somebody would pay money for.

i don't think they are a card game.... they're more or less cards with bits of information and a picture on them.

btw i remember them, and my friend just got a few for her birthday

so if GI Joe came out during a war, would that be a bad thing too?

GI Joe was cool... but it also wasn't modelled after an actual conflict... unless you count the "war on drugs",

I think so... towards the end of the "real" GI Joes (you know, the small action figures, projectile vehicles, etc), they kept bringing up their fight against drugs.

I don't see any problem in them. There are worse things 11 year olds could be looking at.

Riiiight.. Like it's ok to glorify machines that are designed to spread death and destruction, to kill people as efficiently as possible, but GOD FORBID they even get a glimpse at a nipple, or any other aspect of the naked female body.
