Hello!

I have an old notebook with ExpressCard slot and Win7. I bought and insert USB 3.0 card based on FL1100 chip into this slot. Card are recognized and Windows accept original drivers. But... card gots very hot and don't working - USB-flash-drives does not working, also at DeviceManager at card there are error all the time: "This device cannot start (Code 10)". But when I boot via bootable CD with Win10 - card and USB drives works perfectly!!! So EC fully functioning.
I try very many attempts to resolve this problem but without succes:
- Turn off power management for ExpressCard at BIOS;
- Another same card;
- Very many different drivers versions for FL1100;
- Update BIOS;
- Reinstall all USB controllers at Windows;
- Search for Lower/Upper-Filters at Registry for USB devices;
- All recomendations from: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-fix-code-10-errors-2623181
- Search google for this problem and any problems for FL1100 and for my notebook.
Problem still not resolved.

PS Full migration to Win10 are not the option.

Any suggestions?

Unlike Desktops Old Notebooks do not comply to the most rigorous power demands

The fact the card gets very Hot might indicate that there is some hardware compatibility problem.

It might be that it is in the the NoteBook "Karma". I.e., it was not design to work with every card that would be designed in its future.

Dear Moderator,
As I already said - card at the SAME NOTEBOOK are fully function with Win10!!!
Also at internet there are no questions like mine with FL1100 and Code10 error - so this is software problem for sure!
But how to resolve it without Win10, with exist Win7??

Windows 10 uses a built in driver for USB3.0 devices whereas 7 and prior require drivers from the device manufacturer. It certainly sounds like the drivers are not up to snuff. Although if you've tried multiple different drivers I'm not sure what else you can do. Did you download the latest you could find from Fresco Logic's site?

PingSpike,
I already try those drivers, but with them everytime installer show an error like (at my language) "installer is damaged and drivers cant be installed" - after that installaton aborted.
Because I try already everything what its just possible - now I retry those FL drivers from original website... and get the same error. But now I try some manipulation with device-card - delete device from DeviceManager, physically remove from notebook, than insert and start drivers installation... and after some attempts finally those drivers was installed and perfectly works!!! :)

After all my conclusion is - original drivers that comes with card on a micro-CD - have some problems or incompatibility or conflict with some of drivers on this old notebook (the same problem repeats for all other drivers that I have found on internet as drivers packages without installer (from Dell, HP, Asus, etc)) - so original drivers from CD not only does not work properly, but also makes a second software problem that prevent good drivers form FL website to install correctly!

So reccomenation for same situation and "Code 10" error - before install any drivers - to clean previous drivers (from DeviceManager, Installed Software, Registry, etc), remove hardware, reboot system, reattach harware - for each try of driver installation!

Best regards.
