This Dell case looks familiar.

I think I've seen this case somewhere before. Anyone know who actually makes it and supplies Dell? I'm going to be needing a new case soon and looks like this could be a good one.

I don't think they have anyone sharing the platform. It has a very unique placement of the USB ports as well as a bottom mounted, proprietary (1U? 2U?) PSU.

My neighbor has a Dell XPS, his is black though. This is my 2 cents on the case. He spent 3 g's on the computer, and the front door is CHEAP PLASTIC. It's removable, but it's really crummy looking/feeling close up. On a high end computer you would think it would be steel or something nice. The case is pretty good besides that, and it seems to be well built everywhere else.

But it's Dell so I bet it's their own propritary junk you won't be able to find elsewhere.

Yeah, almost nobody makes plastic shelled cases anymore. Interesting how the drive cage is mounted to the side door that swivels out from the front edge. I remember back when most of the Packard-Hell cases were plastic shelled like that... CompUSA and others used to carry a plastic shelled case, but the right side folded out on a hinge at the bottom and the mobo and card bays came with it. Probably the same company is making those cases for Dell. Good luck in your search.

Dell used to get their cases from Palo Alto, as did Micron, and some HP business class machines. These cases were heavy duty plastic shelled, very heavy weight, and impact resistant. I don't know where they source them now.
