As cool as that ram looks, its just way too expensive. From a business standpoint, it makes no sense to sell Unregistered DDR memory at these prices. $179 vs $60?? That would mean that you could buy 768 MB of Crucial for every 256MB of Mushkin. Thats just ridiculous from a consumer standpoint. And Crucial is considered fairly high quality.
The only people that are gonna pay that much for quality ram are overclockers and server operators. Overclockers are a small market. No one can have the resources to produce ram chips, sell ONLY to overclockers, and even come close to breaking even. So that leaves server operators. Server operators are pretty significant, but they aren't gonna pay these prices for anything but registered DIMMS.
Sorry for the rant, but this is why our economy sucks right now...so many companies are obsessed with improving technology that they don't stop and think if anyone's gonna buy it.
