Thomas Crown Affair....how did he fit the painting in his briefcase without it bending the painting?

I haven't seen the movie, but I assume he removes the painting from the frame and then at the end it's put back into a frame.

takes it out of the frame and folds it in to the breifcase?
 
I've thought many nights about this myself. I'm surprised someone else shares my concern.

I think that it's just the way the camera shows you it. He doesn't actually fold it, he just puts it in there long ways. It looks like he puts it in sideways though.

no, you see him fold the breifcase and a split second later you would see the painting fold too but they cut the scene right away
