This country's going to hell!

Probably a repost, but it's new to me, so it might be new to somebody else, too.

Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $3.58. The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies. While looking at the screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help.
While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.

Why do I tell you this? Because of changes in teaching math since 1950:

Teaching Math In 1950

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?

Teaching Math In 1960

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

Teaching Math in 1970

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

Teaching Math In 1980

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20 Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math In 1990

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers.)

Teaching Math In 2007

Un ranchero vende una carretera demadera por $100. El cargo de produccion es $80. Cuantas tortillas se puede comprar?

So you're saying I can't do math because I can't speak spanish?!??!?

It all suddenly makes sense.

At least she knew which burger picture to press to get you your burger. Was your order correct? She works at Burger King @sshat.......

So you start a completely idiotic rant thread because a girl working at BURGER KING couldn't do math?

Are you going to start a thread on how dishonest people are nowadays the next time the kids at Best Buy try to sell you a protection plan?

STFU. Seriously. Just be glad the girl was being kept busy at Burger King, trying to make an honest living, and wasn't trying to scam you or steal your ******.

FWIW I believe the burger king thing is part of the email.

The logger was Jesus! :Q

Now some say the Romans killed Jesus
And some say it was the Jews
And some say that it was King Herod
And some say it was me and you

But when I think of the cross he was nailed to
And the tree that was logged for the wood
I realize 'twas the loggers killed Jesus
And it's time that we got them back good

So spike a tree for Jesus, spike a tree for Jesus
and Jesus will love you you know
Spike a tree for Jesus, Spike a tree for Jesus
and someday to heaven you'll go

Now the logger who cut that old tree down
He was just going 'long with the mob
When asked why he did it he answered
I was only just doing my job
I don't care what they do with the timber
As long as they pay me my price
They can go make a frame to hang a picture
They can go make a cross to hang Christ
Now as Jesus he hung on that cross there
It was not some thing that he liked
And his last words were: father I would not be here
If all of the trees had been spiked!

Hmm, never ued a Cash register, but I wonder if you giving her the $.08 mucked up the transaction. Not because she couldn't do Math, but because she needed to change the Cash received on the register to complete the transaction?

Perhaps someone with experience on a BK Cash Register can respond.
