So I am completely addicted to hard drives and always run out of SATA ports (I need two SATA cards for my desktop) and recently discovered what I believe to be irrefutable evidence of jesus christ himself:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816103196
It takes one port and splits it into 4!!!

I know that its SAS and not SATA so I will need a SAS controller and am hoping that this card will work if I want to load it up with 4 cables and load each cable up to the max:

Or even better:

This card.

The Adaptec SAS/SATA breakout cable in your first link will NOT work with the two products you have shown. The breakout cable is for use in higher end SAS/SATA RAID/HBA's, not the two cheap cards you have listed. You use standard one to one SATA cables for the two cards listed.

Are there any cheaper options? Id like to keep the entire thing under 100$.

This controller will work with the SAS/SATA breakout cable in your very 1st link and will allow up to 8 drives with 2 of the Adaptec breakout cables.

The Highpoint card will allow you to add 4 drives using standard SATA cables.

The Promise card will allow you to add 2 drives using standard SATA cables.

You don't channels for free. You either pay to have more SATA/SASA connectors on the card or one that offers more through break-out cables. It's not like cable TV where you just buy a splitter.
