Finally?

America has been producing great cars for well over a decade.

Heck last 2 models of Z06 were amazing as well.....

Chevy has made good corvettes for several years now, but nothing else of note has come from Amerika in a while.

Fixed it for you.

It's a cool car, looks/sounds even better in person. have you seen the cost of replacing those carbon ceramic rotors and pads? It's around 15k.

Granted, they'll probably last 100k miles if you keep it off track, but still, that's one hell of a brake job LOL.

Is there a place where you don't post nonsense Vdub?

If you were to post your BS in the 80s and 90s, I would agree with you.

American companies have gone a long way since then and are up to par with just about any other car maker.

Things have been pretty balanced at this point.

Heck, it's hard to even label "American" car anymore as shit is made ALL over the place.

I have to say that the new Z06 is a blast to drive, even given that I'm not yet past the break-in procedure where you shouldn't take it over 4000 rpm.

Corvette engines have been broken in IN the factory for WELL over a decade now....and some.

Hopefully it's not a PITA to maintain, I think I will be getting one in a few years once prices come down.

Go ahead and get yourself your beloved Porsche or other "european" sports car.

In about 5-10 years, ANYTHING that happens to the vette will be peanuts in comparison.

Z06 and even base vette has been stumping on European cars since the release of C5 when it comes to price, reliability, performance, cost of maintenance, gas consumption....amongst other things.

As much as I hate to do it, I agree with Vdubchaos in reference to the Z06. I have been enamored with this car since the C5. It is my go-to retort to 4-valve OHC fanboys, and now I don't even have to add the caveat that you shouldn't care about the interior if you are going fast.

This is coming from someone who has owned Japanese makes for 90% of his driving life.

When I saw the size of those rotors I was like..WOW..they look freaking HUGE! but I'd guess with 650HP on tap the enormous braking system is a pretty good idea.

And now that GM came up with a variable-valve timing for a pushrod engine back in '07 I don't see them dying off anytime soon. I did have to LOL at GM re-naming a pushrod engine to "cam in block" technology. Another advantage is weight distribution, with a pushrod engine the heads are much smaller so more of the engine's weight is closer to the ground.

The spec on the New Camaro are pretty impressive too, if they come out as the "Leaked" version some car mags are listing, the Hellcat wont be king of the HP wars for long.

i know a lot of Euro snobs keep yapping about "pushrod".

I see NOTHING wrong with PROVEN technology.

Meanwhile, they will go off and buy cars with "new" technology FILLED with BS electronic gizzmos.....from companies that have LONG history of poor electronics.

I used to be an idiot.....euro snob......:$

It's like washer machine, you have 30+ year old tech and new "front loader" BS. Go ahead and head over to DYI forums and see the troubleshooting procedures, knowledge base and ease of fix for both of them.

READ: no way in HELL I would ever buy a front loader, no thanks.

C5 Z06 spanked ALL of the cars back in it's day, at 1/2 the cost or MORE, while being way more reliable, efficient and easy to fix amongst many other things.

Suggesting that "euro snobs" are idiots also suggests the "used to be" part is still in effect.

You're talking about one car that has finally improved it's interior quality to a degree to actually be considered a world class car.

You're talking about one aspect of it's drivetrain that, in its own right, is fine, but the argument is why such a huge motor for its power delivery?

Z06 spanked what. On a track? Who gives a crap? Bet that thing is sitting in a garage when it's cold.

large as in displacement, weight, or physical size?

it may have a large displacement, but the LS/LT engines are physically compact and relatively lightweight compared to DOHC counterparts that put out similar power #'s.

remember the corvette LS7 vs. BMW M5 V10? both 500hp, 7.0L vs. 5.0L - but the corvette engine was physically more compact, weighed significantly less, and produced more torque at lower RPMs.

so just because something displaces a large volume says nothing about how physically large or heavy the engine is. HP/L is, quite frankly, a fairly useless comparison of engine performance and efficiency.

Dash stroker alert...

You realize SBC weighs as much if not less than most "smaller" European V8s or even 6 cylinders right?

Selective on things to justify your ignorance.

Interior > important

Performance on track when it comes to sports cars > who cares

Ignorance...Ok. I fully expected you to not back up your statements, so thanks for proving my point.
