its not rendered but ist not 1 single photo either, im guessing its 2 or 3 that were blended in photoshop

2 the background
3 the birds

That cannot be a picture of a real-life scene in nature. Water is never, ever calm like that with NO ripples or motion -especially with three boats.

actually water is that calm real early in the morning, especially on lakes, the ocean will do it also, its is refered to as dead calm, im sure i have a pic of water looking like glass around here someplace

that is EAISILY accomplished with a layer in photoshop as well
